A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Jane Eliot

Lorelei Keller wasn’t keen to return to her hometown of Fredericksburg, though she hadn’t set foot there in two years at least. She had her own personal ghosts to deal with, let alone those that her mother believed in. But when her mother unexpectedly dies, Lorelei must return and face not only her past, but the imposing figure of Sam Travis. Sam’s presence makes Lorelei feel even more disconnected from her mother’s life. Yet the longer she stays in Fredericksburg, her desire to leave lessens.

Same Travis is stricken by the death of Wanda Keller. The woman was more maternal than his own mother and her B&B was the closest thing he had to a home. Sam can’t understand how Wanda could have a daughter that couldn’t appreciate what she had in Wanda. Despite their differences, Sam can’t shake Lorelei from his mind. Is it his desire to connect with Wanda’s daughter or is there something more between them?

Sam and Lorelei are similar in ways they can’t understand. Their walls prevent communication between them and lead to misunderstandings. Both of them have the ghosts of their past to work through. These characters don’t only find love, but a sense of community. Tanya Michaels creates a sweet small-town with an interesting mix of characters.

Book Blurb for Claimed by a Cowboy

Sam Travis doesn't like to be tied down. He's used to picking up work all around the Hill Country, including odd jobs for Wanda Keller, an older woman who treats him as a son. When Wanda suddenly dies, her estranged daughter shows up…and Lorelei Keller turns out to be more than he bargained for.

Polished—some might say uptight—Lorelei left Fredericksburg in the dust years ago. Coming home for her mom's funeral sends her into a tailspin of regrets. But that's nothing compared to the shock of learning that Sam has inherited her mother's B and B. Did the sexy cowboy manipulate his way into her mother's heart? Lorelei is determined to clean up this mess, and then get the heck out of Texas. For good this time.

Because there's nothing to keep her there now…except maybe Sam?
