Bond of Passion

Bertrice Small's breathless Border Chronicles continues as a mysterious nobleman and his bartered new bride untangle a plot of illicit seduction, daring betrayal, and deadly royal intrigue...

Called the handsomest man in the Borders, Angus Ferguson, earl of Duin, lives a quiet life avoiding the constant political intrigues of his neighbors in order to keep his small clan safe. Now in exchange for a piece of land he has long coveted he has taken a wife. Annabella Baird, the plain-faced daughter of the laird of Rath.

Reluctant at first to bed the unassuming Annabella, Angus finally accepts his duty as a husband only to discover that beneath his bride's modest demeanor is a wildcat with a spark waiting to be ignited. When, however, they accept an invitation to the court of Scotland's Queen Mary they find themselves caught up in royal intrigue.

Mary's unfortunate marriage to her cousin, Lord Darnley, has proven a disaster. Worse it has driven her into the arms of another man, James Hepburn, the dashing, powerful earl of Bothwell. When Darnley is murdered in spectacular fashion, and his body barely cold Mary and Bothwell wed, the queen's adversaries retaliate with a war that divides Scotland, and tries the long friendship between the earl of Duin and James Hepburn even as it tests the bond of passion between Angus and Annabella in ways they never expected.

Bond of Passion is the latest installment in the Border Chronicles series written by Bertrice Small. It has been a long time since I have read one of her books. I had completely forgotten that her stories have a very unique style that can only be associated with her. She loves to tell rich and sweeping period pieces with well-developed characters whose dialogue and actions are appropriate for the time period.

Guilty Pleasures was a really good read. It is written differently than the other pleasure books but not too differently. It focuses on five different people, only one of them a new character. It is really great to get to interact with the same characters again and catch up with what is going on in their lives. These are short stories but it never feels rushed or incomplete. These stories are hot and very exp

The Border Vixen

From "a legend" (Linda Lael Miller) in romance, a new novel in the Border Chronicles.

Aware of the covetous interest in his land, the laird of Brae Aisir announces that any man who can outrun, outride, and outfight his headstrong granddaughter "Mad Maggie" will have her as a wife-along with her inheritance. His proposition causes more chaos than resolution, especially when King James II sends his cousin, Fingal Stewart, to compete for Maggie's hand. The competition brings out the fire in both of them, and it doesn't take long for the rivals to become lovers. But there are those who will do anything to gain control of Maggie's inheritance- even if it means getting rid of Fingal Stewart, and his border vixen.

Passionate Pleasures
New York Times bestselling author Beatrice Small is turning on her fans again-by tuning them into their sexiest fantasies in The Channel.

Some think librarians are stuffy, narrow-minded prudes-but that's not true of Kathryn St. John. She runs Egret Point's library and is very involved in her community, even down to keeping them up with the latest trends. One major trend she turned the local ladies on to is the interactive network The Channel. It's there that Kathryn extends her occupational passions into the bedroom by playing out her favorite pieces of medieval English literature.

Kathryn is quite satisfied with the princes, musketeers, and highwaymen her personas seduce in The Channel. But her seductions spill out into the real world and reach Timothy Blair, new to Egret Point. He wants to satiate both of their desires, but how can he possibly compete with fantasy lovers? That is unless he can create a wicked plot twist that even Kathryn couldn't think up in her wildest dreams...

Bertrice Small combines romance with daring in a book that will entice and intrigue you. The characters are bold and full of life, each bringing their own spice to the story. I enjoyed Border Lord and the Lady very much; it was as romantic as it was exciting and I will definitely read anything of Small’s that comes across my desk in the future.
