Home Improvement

The editors of the New York Times bestselling Death's Excellent Vacation bring home a new collection...with a never-before- published Sookie Stackhouse story!

There's nothing like home renovation for finding skeletons in the closet or otherwordly portals in the attic. Now, for any homeowner who's ever wondered, "What's that creaking sound?" or fans of "how to" television who'd like a little unreality mixed in with their reality shows, editors Charlaine Harris and Toni L. P. Kelner return with an all-new collection of the paranormal perils of Do-It-Yourself.

Sookie Stackhouse resides in these pages, in a never-before-published story by #1 New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris. And New York Times bestselling authors Patricia Briggs, James Grady, Heather Graham, Melissa Marr, and nine other outstanding writers have constructed more frightening and funny fixer-upper tales guaranteed to shake foundations and rattle readers' pipes.

"Home Improvement Undead Edition" is a great collection of stories from many familiar names in the urban fantasy genre. This anthology deals with the paranormal occurrences that happen while performing home repairs that can be both humorous and terrifying. All of these stories are entertaining but there are two that stood out for me. One is "Gray" by Patricia Briggs, about a vampire that finds that it is d

Poppy Done to Death

Not just any woman in Lawrenceton, Georgia, gets to be a member of the Uppity Women Book Club. But Roe's stepsister-in-law Poppy has climbed her way up the waiting list of the group-only to die on the day she's supposed to be inducted.

Sordid stories of infidelity in Poppy's marriage lead to a rash of suspects, and Roe begins to question her own heart. But her passion for the truth will drive her on-into the path of the cold-blooded killer.

Last Scene Alive

Roe is still in mourning over her husband's death when a movie company arrives in Lawrenceton. They've come to make a film based on a book written by her one-time boyfriend Robin Crusoe, a book that detailed their shared investigation of a series of murders that occurred years before.

But when the lead actress-who is playing Roe-is killed, Robin and Roe join forces once again to thwart a killer, without knowing that Roe herself is the next target.

A Fool and His Honey

Aurora's been around long enough to know that when a day starts out with your handyman going crazy in your front yard, it probably won't get any better. Sure enough, her husband Martin's niece Regina shows up with a baby whom no one knew she was expecting. Then she disappears, leaving behind the child-and a murdered husband. To find her, Roe and Martin retrace her steps from sunny Georgia back to snowy Ohio, where they will uncover dark family secrets-at their own peril.

Dead Over Heels

Part-time librarian Aurora "Roe" Teagarden never liked Detective Sergeant Jack Burns, but she also never wanted to see him dead- especially not dropped from a plane right into her own backyard. But when other strange things happen around her, ranging from peculiar (her irascible cat turns up wearing a pink ribbon) to violent (her assistant at the library is attacked) to potentially deadly (her former lover is stabbed), she must decipher the personal message in the madness before it's too late.

The Julius House
Love at first sight turns into newlywed bliss for former librarian Aurora Teagarden- until violence cuts the honeymoon short.

Wealthy businessman Martin Bartell gives Roe exactly what she wants for their wedding: Julius House. But both the house and Martin come with murky pasts. And when Roe is attacked by an ax-wielding maniac, she realizes that the secrets inside her four walls-and her brand-new marriage-could destroy her.

A Bone to Pick

Aurora "Roe" Teagarden's fortunes change when a deceased acquaintance names her as heir to a rather substantial estate, including money, jewelry, and a house complete with a skull hidden in a window seat. Roe concludes that the elderly women has purposely left her a murder to solve. So she must identify the victim and figure out which one of her new, ordinary-seeming neighbors is a murderer- without putting herself in deadly danger.

Real Murders

A society of crime buffs discovers a mutilated body in their clubhouse kitchen and the town librarian suspects a fellow member because the crime closely resembled the club's ""murder of the month."" Reprint.

Three Bedrooms, One Corpse

Deciding if she wants to go into real estate becomes a life-or-death choice for Aurora "Roe" Teagarden. A naked corpse is discovered at her first house showing. And when a second body is found in another house for sale, it becomes obvious that there is a very cool killer at large in Lawrenceton, one who knows a great deal about real estate-and maybe too much about Roe.

This is the third book in the Aurora Teagarden Mystery series. I've read the other two books in the series but they are not necessary to understand this book. Aurora Teagarden has quit her job as a librarian after receiving a large inheritance from an elderly friend. Aurora is considering following her mother's footsteps by going into real estate. Her first house showing goes horribly wrong however when ins

Even monsters need a vacation! In Death's Excellent Vacation, there are thirteen short stories ranging from a brand spankin' new Sookie Stackhouse story, which happens to be one of my most favorite series, to new-to-me authors. Admittedly, I've never been a fan of anthologies such as this because if I like a story in it, by the time it's over, I always want more! So I'm left unsatisfied and I don't like

I was quite pleased when I received Strange Brew in the mail. Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs, Jim Butcher and Caitlin Kittredge are guaranteed good reads for me. I have enjoyed Karen Chance and Pat Elrod in the past but Faith Hunter, Jenna Maclaine and Rachel Caine were new reads for me. I dove into it within minutes of the postman driving away. When I finished it, I could honestly say that my streak of gr

I was worried when I sat down to start From Dead to Worse. I hadn't enjoyed the previous volume, All Together Dead for a variety of reasons. Ms. Harris starts out the new volume with a recap of what had happened to bring everyone up to speed. Right from the start I felt a renewed hope. Sookie's voice was very much present and I quickly wrapped myself up in the story. So much was left up in the air in the last

This books starts up recapping what had taken place in All Together Dead, which for those who hadn't read the last book in a while was nice. Sookie has been busy picking up the pieces from the disaster at the summit and still doesn't know what has happened to her missing boyfriend Quinn. However she soon has more to worry about when she is attacked on her way home from Shreveport. Soon Sookie is caught up by
