I grew up in Southern California, but my spirit has always been in the wide open plains of the Heartland. When I write, I see the images so clearly, it's as though I'm there. My stories flow from the heart, and when someone tells me they like my work, I am content.
Sometimes I think I was born writing, and have been doing so since I could put pen to paper. My first efforts at short stories began when I was in the first grade, and I took a sabbatical to raise a husband and two sons, then returned to the craft I love.
I write for pleasure, mainly western historical with Native American Heroes, the occasional contemporary romance and also bit of whimsical fantasy. My heroes are always modeled after my late husband, whose Chickasaw heritage inspires me. Alpha heroes are the only kind I write, and they have to be compassionate, passionate and intelligent or they never make it to the page. My published work includes Native American Romance and I'm published in several anthologies as well.

HeartSent Christmas
HeartSent Christmas is a 3 novella anthology from 3 prolific and talented writers. The heat level goes from spice to hot-hot-hot and back to sensual in these three offerings. There are thrills, tears and laughter in these three stories selected especially for the 2011 Holiday Edition of HeartSent Christmas Heide Katros-known for her dynamic thrillers and mysteries-delivers a spicy, highly intriguing and romantic story in Second Chances. Sylvia Hewlitt is determined to skip a Florida Christmas this year. She books a ski vacation for North Carolina. Instead of fun on the slopes she ends up in the hospital. When she regains consciousness, Detective Stephan Breslow is sitting by her bedside. They've met before under grim circumstances, but can they put the past behind them? Kate Hofman, with her usual panache, delivers a very hot-hot-hot tale of romance, with her powerfully written and fascinating offering of Christmas Magic. The Italian Alps are the setting for an unexpected reunion between Luca, the Marchese di Montevarchi and his ex-fianc‚e Crista Ballantyne. Will the magic of the season intervene and allow them to forget their bitter quarrel or will fate play a cruel trick and end Luca's life? Diane Davis White, in the tradition of her historical Native American Romances, takes us to the turn-of-the-nineteenth-century to the wide open prairie of Nebraska where two cultures come together for a Christmas celebration, and two people-a young Lakota Chief and the daughter of a local farmer-find each other and fall in love amidst the holiday cheer in this vibrantly sweet, yet highly sensual romance, Lakota Christmas.

A horrible accident on the highway, a spiritual intervention, and the truth as they knew it becomes the truth as they will tell their children and their grandchildren down through time.
This is their story.

Can Thunder Heart keep these women safe? Will his act of compassion cause the death of his family?
Will his people demand the abandonment or death of these women in order to avoid the wrath of the Bluecoats or perhaps that of Red Cloud?
Uncertain of the outcome, he knows only one thing: He desires the pale-haired beauty, Victoria Abernathy, and will do anything to insure her safety.

Genre(s): Historical Romance, Western
I enjoyed reading the story of Thunder Heart and Victoria and Lilith Abernathy.
What brought the story together for me was seeing the characters' conflicts: Thunder Heart's because he would like to see Victoria as his and the trouble it causes him with his people because she is white; Victoria's in part due to her mother's mental health and how Lilith vacillates between lucid moments where she knows what is
