Author: Ginger Simpson | Website

The "working" Ginger Simpson retired from the University of California as an advocate for students. While there, my involvement in editing and creating publications/forms led me to believe I could write a novel similar to those historical romances I loves so well. And guess what! My debut novel was published by small press in 2003. Since then, I've written many more novels and novellas, all but one contracted for publication. Writing is in my blood. Thanks to medicine...my very thin blood.

I really enjoyed this book. The premise was very interesting and full of conflicts. I was amazed at how many troubling spots the main characters got themselves into and out of. Odessa at first seemed to be a very strong woman, but then there were times when I thought she was really inept and insecure. I think the clash between the two personalities was what made Odessa interesting. I also think that t

Sparta Rose

Roselle can't quite live up to her flowery name and prefers to be called Ellie. Her plans of one day running her father's ranch are threatened by a handsome foreman, the dastardly family on the adjoining land; And more surprisingly, her heart.

Foreman, Tyler Bishop, can't make heads or tails out of Ellie Fountain. One minute she's a childish tomboy and the next, copper curls and curves. One thing he's determined to do, and that's keep her safe. He's not sure if he's doing it because she's the boss's daughter or because her feistiness attracts him in ways he doesn't want to admit.

Romance and suspense emerge in Sparta Rose.

The Locket

Can you consider a necklace a gift if it makes you angry enough to kill?

A simple trinket left in a confessional begins a path of destruction throughout the years.

The golden locket, left behind by a woman who killed her boyfriend, is supposedly cursed; at least that’s what she claimed before she raced out of the church. Anyone who dares fasten the pendant around her neck suffers severe and uncontrollable anger. Woe be it to anyone who gets in the path of the wearer.

Is the piece cursed, or are the deaths totally unrelated? Detective Clarence O’Day is unwilling to make the connection—until forty years after the first case.

This short novella is an enjoyable read. I was caught up quickly in the mystery and liked the overall tone and voice of the story. The sentences were constructed well and ran through my mind with an almost musical cadence. The locket has a beautiful appearance, but seems also to harbor a malevolent, evil force of some sort. That malignancy is unleashed once the locket is worn, and the metal actually tou

Taylor Morgan tries to focus on her surroundings through a blinding headache. The patchwork quilt, the water basin, and the archaic room don’t strike a familiar chord. Her mouth gapes when a handsome man waltzes into the room, calls her darling, and expresses his delight that she’s on the road to recovery.

Clearly something is amiss.

When I first began reading Shortcomings, I somewhat expected to be brought into the world of Cindy, a young girl with challenges. What I had not expected was the emotional response it would bring out in me as an adult. Ms. Simpson has written a very clever novel that not only reaches into the depths of the memories carried from high school, it stretches even further into areas as a mother and grandmother that

First Degree Innocence

Carrie Lang’s sheltered life ends with a prison sentence for involvement in a bank robbery. A plan for retribution is brewing, and naïve Carrie finds herself smack dab in the middle of an evil scheme concocted by the prison bully. A ten year sentence seems mild when she’s threatened with death for refusing to participate. Can Carrie find a way out of this horrible nightmare, or is she destined to spend her days locked in terror, isolation, and the cold gray interior of prison walls?

I admit it. I have a thing about short stories attempting to encompass an entire full-length novel in those few scant pages. There just isn’t room for character development, plot twists, background characters, or much of anything else. Short stories, in my experience, are either a narrative of a small but interesting incident, or a character sketch, with examples thrown in.   In th
