Pride and Prejudice (Splinter Edition)

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is one of the best-loved novels of all time--and today, it's more popular than ever. When the wealthy and very eligible bachelor Charles Bingley purchases an estate in the Bennets' small town, he and the beautiful Jane immediately fall in love. But Bingley's arrogant friend Darcy just as quickly alienates Lizzy when she overhears him speaking dismissively of her. These first impressions have lasting repercussions for Jane, Elizabeth, and their whole family. Rich in wit and wisdom, humor and humanity, Pride and Prejudice takes a probing, entertaining look at the nature of love, money, and power in Georgian England.

Sense and Sensibility (Splinter Edition)

Two sisters, very different in attitude but both in search of the perfect man, are the heart of Sense and Sensibility. Sensible, restrained Elinor seems to have found a kindred spirit in Edward Ferrars, while the impetuous, romantic Marianne falls hard for the dashing Willoughby. But each man has a secret that may destroy the relationship. Will the sisters find happiness--or betrayal?

Pride and Prejudice

When Elizabeth Bennet first meets eligible bachelor Fitzwilliam Darcy, she thinks him arrogant and conceited; he is indifferent to her good looks and lively mind. When she later discovers that Darcy has involved himself in the troubled relationship between his friend Bingley and her beloved sister Jane, she is determined to dislike him more than ever. In the sparkling comedy of manners that follows, Jane Austen shows the folly of judging by first impressions and superbly evokes the friendships, gossip and snobberies of provincial middle-class life.

Persuasion

Once so much to each other!

Now nothing!

Ann Elliot has only one regret: that she listened to her family and broke off her engagement to Captain Wentworth. He was poor, but they were in love-and she didn't realize that love was enough. But Anne has a new chance: Captain Wentworth has returned from the Royal Navy. With everything stacked against her, can she overcome their heartbreak and persuade him to love her again?

Beautifully presented for a modern teen audience, Jane Austen's masterpiece is one of the most enduring stories about the resilience of love.

While Jane Austen may not be the perfect fit as an author for everyone, I quite enjoyed reading Persuasion. I think that, of the books that I have read by Jane Austen, it is my favorite. The reason for that is that it includes a smaller cast of characters than the others that I have read (and I have not read all of her books) and, yet, still manages to convey how the social classes operated within their mil

As one who doesn't like to review classic books, I find myself at a loss for words when it comes to Emma. In a language and time all in its own, where do I begin? From the setting, the manners, the society, and the roles of men and women, there isn't much for me to say. Trying to relate to these characters is a stretch, yet deep inside everybody can find something of themselves within these long ago written c

Sense and Sensibility

He is not the only young man in the world worth having.

Teenage sisters Marianne and Elinor Dashwood could not be more different. Marianne is passionat Se, impetuous, and recklessly romantic. Elinor is practical, thoughtful, and completely reserved. But Marianne and Elinor discover they have more in common than they thought when they both fall head over heels in love with unattainable men.

Opposites in every way except for their heartbreak, the two girls are determined to make their dreams come true. But in a society ruled by status and money, Elinor and Marianne will have to fight for the happy ending they both deserve. Through a series of romantic misadventures the girls come to realize that the key to their happiness may not lie in fiery passion or strict reason—but somewhere in between.

Jane Austen's sweepingly romantic masterpiece continues to delight generation after generation of readers. Beautifully presented for a modern teen audience, this is the must-have edition of a timeless classic.

What can one say about a classic without saying what's already been said a hundred times or a thousand? Not much. Sense and Sensibility is as lovely as always, just as interesting and wonderful and quirky and so. It's a good book. We got that already. It's got a new cover this time around, with the HarperTeen imprint, which looks like someone tried to hook visually into the Twilight phenomenon. Perhaps

Can the Dashwood sisters triumph over meddlesome matriarchs and unscrupulous rogues to find true love? Or will they fall prey to the tentacles that are forever snapping at their heels? It's survival of the fittest and only the swiftest swimmers will find true love!

Pride and Prejudice

"Darcy had never been so bewitched by any woman as he was by her."

With all the forces of the world conspiring to keep Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet apart, how will fate manage to bring them together? It certainly won't be easy if they're fighting it every step of the way. But theirs is a love that was meant to be, despite all the odds against them.

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice has been a classic for years due to it's wonderful writing, richly developed characters and engrossing romance, but now enjoys a surge in its fanbase due to Twilight. Edward and Bella bring to mind Miss Bennett and Mr. Darcy, so Pride and Prejudice has been re-released with new cover artwork and fun additions such as Mr. Darcy and Miss Bennett's Facebook page, Which Benn
