Bleeding Out
From the author of Infernal Affairs comes a story of murder. mayhem, and demon relations. Is this really the vacation Tess was looking for? Though she’s on leave from the Occult Special Investigations squad, Tess Corday is still grappling with her own personal mysteries. But finding out the truth about her demonic heritage has been more difficult than she expected. Plus, her unauthorized investigation into an addictive new vampire street drug is driving a stake between her and her undead boyfriend. Then Vancouver’s premier necromancer turns up dead. Tess suspects that the cases are related. And her suspicions will lead her into a paranormal showdown that can—and will—change the course of her life forever.
Infernal Affairs
A dead body on the beach turns out to be a live demon on the run from some of the nastiest bounty hunters in this dimension-or the next. Protecting one demon from another, Tess gets wrapped up in a case that's as dangerous as it is mind-boggling, especially when it begins to involve her own past.

What could possibly go wrong when what seems like a dead body found on a beach turns out to be alive? Especially when it is, in actuality, a demon?
Quite a lot - at least in Tess's world.
I enjoyed having another glimpse into the OSI world and how the characters interact with each other and the possible glimpse into Tess's past.
Ru (as the found demon is called) may be one of my favorite characters from th
Inhuman Resources
When a powerful necromancer is killed, Occult Special Investigator Tess Corday must handle the heavy politics in the occult community as carefully as she handles the scant evidence. But with her sometime lover Lucian Agrado representing the necromancers in the grisly matter, things are about to get out of control...fast.

A murdered necromancer??? Little evidence? Plus you get more than the usual politics when dealing with the occult community. Combine that with the representative for the necromancer sect being her sometime lover and it's all in a day's work lately for Tess Corday, Occult Special Investigator.
The "world" of Inhuman Resources is strange, dark, and populated with individuals I wouldn't mind meetin
A Flash of Hex
A FLASH OF HEX
In our line of work, there were demons and necromancers, and then there were…other things. Older things without names that you didn’t ever want to meet. I swallowed a lump in my throat, knowing I was in the presence of evil…
As an Occult Special Investigator, Tess Corday has seen her fair share of disturbing crime scenes--but nothing ever shocked her as much as the ritualistic murder of a drugged-out runaway kid, who she soon learns was not the first such victim.
All the dead teens had traces of the dangerous magical drug called Hex in their bodies. All were the children of powerful mage families. All were killed with the sacred tools of mages. It adds up to the chilling possibility that the OSI is dealing with a serial killer, one who has incredible inhuman powers.
To stop the slaughter, Tess and her partner Derrick will go anywhere and do anything—including seeking help from the necromancer Lucian Agrado, whom Tess is under orders to avoid . But as the deaths continue, Tess becomes convinced that the identity of the killer is locked inside her own head. And the question is—how many rules is she willing to break to get to the truth?

A Flash of Hex is a riveting book featuring a CORE OSI (occult special investigator) Tess Corday in an alternate world set in Vancouver where demons, witches, vampires and nameless evil things reside and wreak havoc and the CORE is there monitoring, controlling and taking care of the situations to keep unsuspecting humans safe.
Jes Battis has created a complex and complete world within his nove
Night Child
FIRST IN A NEW SERIES.
Enter the night world of the OSI... OCCULT SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR
Tess Corday, Occult Special Investigator for Vancouver's Mystical Crime Lab, is used to seeing dead vampires. But there's nothing ordinary about this case. Not the lab results on the cause of death. Not the teenage girl living at the address found in the vamp's pocket, who may well be in thrall to a demon. And certainly not Lucian Agrado, the necromancer who is liaison to the vampire community. Agrado is supposed to be part of the solution, but Tess suspects he might be part of the problem.
Soon she finds herself in the middle of a paranormal conspiracy that will change her life forever—and possibly end it.

I had a problem with this book right off, which is unusual for me. I found the first chapter very off putting. The technical aspects of an Occult Special Investigator (CSI for paranormals) were overwhelming and it was a little short of character building. It is obvious that Mr. Battis did his research and really thought about how paranormal crimes would be investigated. But it was almost too obvious. I would
