This book is set in Russia and starts in August 1620. There is some kind of heat wave going on. The first few chapters all of the characters complain of the heat and the lack of rain. Countess Synnovea Zenkovna is the daughter of Russian ambassador that recently died. The Tzar had held her father in high regard even though he had married a woman from England. Due to this regard, the Tzar gave Synnovi

The Elusive Flame

History, hot and sizzling, with passion burning and adventure in every port -- these are the hallmarks of any, Kathleen Woodiwiss novel! The beloved author of the groundbreaking The Flame and the Flower has penned the long-awaited sequel to that breathtaking story of love at sea with The Elusive Flame. Woodiwiss is a better writer now than she was the first time around, and her story soars magnificently. Where The Flame and the Flower ends, the new one begins, but this time the masculine hero is Beau Birmingham, son of Captain Brandon Birmingham and the beautiful Heather Simmons.

It's October 24, 1825 and Cerynis Kendall is once again pretty much alone in the world. Years before her parents had died. Her sole living relative, an academic uncle, turned her guardianship over to a family friend, Lydia Winthrope. Lydia had taken her from South Carolina to London. In London, the young Cerynis had studied painting and was now selling her paintings for more money than she could imagine.

The Reluctant Suitor

For as long as she can remember, Lady Adriana Sutton has adored Colton Wyndham, to whom she has been betrothed since childhood. But Colton was too proud to submit to a future not of his own choosing, and he fled his ancestral home for a life of adventure as a British army officer. Years later, the girl Colton spurned has blossomed into an uncommon beauty desired by every eligible bachelor in the land -- except the man she desires, the decorated hero who has finally returned home. As arrogant and seductive as ever, Colton agrees to court Lady Adriana for ninety days to prove that love cannot be forced, after which time he will be free. But this stunning, spirited woman is far different from the young chit he left behind. And a heroic heart, once tightly closed, is now susceptible to Adriana's charm and sensuality -- even as dark secrets and a rival's treachery threaten to steal her from Colton's arms forever.

The Reluctant Suitor is the perfect Victorian swoon, complete with an unbearably gorgeous heroine matched with a cynical yet gentlemanly war hero. Colton Wyndham, newly returned from war, appears to be stunned into flowery compliments at every turn for the dramatic beauty that is Lady Adriana Sutton-a girl he once rejected when she was six, but who is now the object of his lust. And being a true lady of her t

Everlasting

Historical romance was born when the remarkable Kathleen E. Woodiwiss gifted the world with her groundbreaking love story, The Flame and the Flower. Now, twelve consecutive New York Times bestsellers later, "the first lady of the genre" (Publishers Weekly) returns with her most breathtaking masterwork to date-a glorious celebration of a secret love that is dangerous, irresistible, forbidden, and . . .

Once, Abrielle's name was on the lips of every unwed nobleman in London as a proud exceptional lady coveted for her bearing, her breeding, her wit, and her beauty.

But when her stepfather-respected for his courage and valor during the Crusades-is denied his rightful title and the wealth that accompanies it, Abrielle finds herself suddenly disgraced, no longer a suitable match for any proper gentleman. Only one would still have her, though he desires no more than physical pleasure: the oafish and grotesque Desmond de Marl‚. His dark and scandalous reputation is legend, and Abrielle has heard rumors that his first two wives perished by his hand. Yet no one else can rescue her once-proud family's honor and keep her stepfather from debtor's prison, so she is left with no choice but to accept the cruel and hateful de Marl‚'s offer of marriage and sacrifice her virtue to a scoundrel she fears and detests . . . even as she yearns for another lover.

Dashing, handsome, tall, and kind-a black-haired Scotsman with vivid blue eyes-Raven Seabern is an emissary for his king, and quite unlike any man Abrielle has ever encountered. From the very first moment their eyes meet, he intrigues and mesmerizes her-and dancing in hisarms at a royal banquet leaves her weak with the desire to surrender. But their love can never be, for Abrielle is betrothed to a monster. And the well-being of everyone she cares for demands that she honor her promise. Still, the fire lit that night will not be doused. Raven knows he has found the true one and must never let her go-though secrets, deceptions, dishonor, and unimaginable peril will surely be their fate if they follow the dictates of their hearts.

This wonderful book was the last from the lady and I mean that in the highest regard of the word of Romance herself Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. Some consider Woodiwiss the mother of the modern day romantic novel genre. And when reading her books it is easy to see why. A masterful storyteller who will be remembered and sorely missed as this year saw her passing in early July from cancer. Her publisher said "Everla
