Author: Katie MacAlister | Website
For as long as she can remember, Katie MacAlister has loved reading. Growing up in a family where a weekly visit to the library was a given, Katie spent much of her time with her nose buried in a book. Despite her love for novels, she didn’t think of writing them until she was contracted to write a non-fiction book about software. Since her editor refused to allow her to include either witty dialogue or love scenes in the software book, Katie swiftly resolved to switch to fiction, where she could indulge in world building, tormenting characters, and falling madly in love with all her heroes. Two years after she started writing novels, Katie sold her first romance, Noble Intentions. More than thirty books later, her novels have been translated into numerous languages, been recorded as audiobooks, received several awards, and are regulars on the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. She also writes for the young adult audience as Katie Maxwell. Katie lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and dogs, and can often be found lurking around online.

Suffragette in the City
Cassandra Whitney is a New Woman, from her forward-thinking attitudes toward women and society, right down to her determination to take a lover—just as soon as she can find one who doesn’t dribble soup, or yell at her for her involvement with the suffrage movement. Unfortunately, the only candidate she’s found worthy is the annoying, but sinfully attractive, Griffin St. John. It’s just too bad he appears to be central in a plot to destroy everything she’s worked for…
Bring Out Your Dead
From New York Times Bestselling Author Katie MacAlister comes the first Dark Ones novella. Battling a demon lord is all in a day’s work for the Dark One named Sebastian. But now he must take on a horde of unhappy zombies and an obnoxious teen vampire if he wants to win the hand of the one woman who can make him whole. Ysabelle is a woman with a past, and not a whole lot of future if a certain demon lord has his way. With zombies, demons, and a little thing like death standing in her way, will she find happiness in the man who’s seen more darkness than she can imagine? Note: this novella was published in 2006 and again in 2010 in the Just One Sip and My Zombie Valentine anthologies, respectively. Readers should be aware that this is a republishing of a previously published novella.
Sparks Fly

But when a member of her family is held hostage, no one is safe from the fire of her rage.

I am a Katie Mac. fan, no doubt about it! I love her books, so when I have a bias (for or against) I mention it up front. While I am partial to her dragon series, I do love her contemporary romances. With all of this in mind, here's what I found to my shock and surprise: yawning through the first bunch of chapters (got plenty of good sleep the prior night), struggling to read another five or six chapters, and
Sex, Lies, and Vampires
Are you responsible for lifting a centuries-old curse from the sexiest vampire you’ve ever seen?
Does a demon lord want to destroy you?
Have you somehow inadvertently bound several mummies to your soul?
Are you the last hope for a lost little boy?
If you’ve answered “yes” to any of the above . . . you’re in big trouble!
Those are a few of the problems facing Nell Harris, a real charmer—no, really . . . a real Charmer—once she hooks up with Adrian Tomas. A devastatingly hot Dark One who’s earned the unfortunate title “the Betrayer” for selling out his own kind to a very nasty demon, Adrian needs Nell in the worst way. Though she’d be way better off keeping her distance, Nell can’t help but find this tormented, undead Betrayer dude just a little too tempting. And this time her penchant for bad boys might cost her more than her heart . . . but her immortal soul as well!

I enjoyed reading this book the first time it came out (I still have that novel on my shelf). This reprint is just as good, even a little smoother (she admits to adding a little to the original story), than the first time around. I don't mind reprints as they can provide a new fan with the opportunity of filling in the blanks, adding to her/his collection, and help a host of people behind the scenes as well.

A Girl's Guide to Vampires
Joy Randall's Top 5 Tips for Vampire Hunters:
- Location, location, location. Vampires won't be caught dead (ha!) in places like discos, ten-minute lube shops, or Switzerland. Remember, if you wouldn't be there, neither would a bloodsucker.
- Trust your eyes. You know the handsome, annoyingly arrogant, self-assured man in the shadows with long hair and a cleft in his chin? He's your vampire.
- No matter how tempting it might be, do not "accidentally" acquire a paper cut on your finger and suggest your vampire kiss it to make it better.
- Play it cool. Don't offer to accompany your prince of the night on the talk-show circuit, and whatever you do, don't offer him your heart!
- Most of all, remember: being a vampire is nothing to laugh about.
