Beneath The Surface
Deputy Leslie Shaw has the easiest job on earth, patrolling the beaches of her sleepy seaside town for rowdy teenagers and illegal bonfires. After a group of scientists takes up residence in a long-deserted house on the cliffs, though, the coast, and rumors of strange sea creatures and water-breathing humans abound.
Professor Gerard LaBrecque, head of the new Oceanic Institute, denies any involvement in the strange occurrences or any knowledge of merpeople. Still, Leslie can’t help but feel that he has something to hide, even though LaBrecque and his young nephew seem eager to insinuate themselves into her personal life. Being in a new relationship of her own, and having a rebellious teenager at home, doesn’t leave her much breathing room…or any room for mistakes, either.
Protecting the town and the people she loves has just become a lot more complicated.
