New in the extraordinary series hailed as “a true frolic into fantasy” (Fantasy Bookspot) by a “Master Magician.” (Midwest Book Review) In Edwardian Britain, magic is real. And Masters of the Elements control Fire, Water, Air, and Earth... Mari Prothero has lived all her life with her father, Daffyd, in a tiny fishing village on the coast of Wales. Though Daffyd takes his boat out on the sea regardless of weather, Mari has learned not to fear for his safety, for her father is a Water mage, and always comes home safely with a large catch. Mari knows that in her family, children are expected to marry at eighteen, to an appropriate stranger. However, Mari is a fledgling Water Master with a rebellious nature. She has no intention of agreeing to any arranged marriage. But Mari has yet to learn the truth of the magical heritage that must be protected by these very marriages. For the Protheros are descended from Selkies—magical beings who are able to change from seals to humans—and to continue her line, she must marry a full-blooded Selkie...

Harvest Moon is a trilogy of paranormal stories set in very different worlds. Mercedes Lackey’s A Tangled Web continues the saga of Leopold and the warrior princess Brunnhilde, secondary characters introduced in her novel The Sleeping Beauty. The Tradition from the 500 Kingdoms intersects with mythological tales of Olympus as Lackey gives her spin on the tale of Persephone and Hades. A pseudo-kidnapping
The Sleeping Beauty
Heavy is the head—and the eyelids—of the princess who wears the crown…
In Rosamund's realm, happiness hinges on a few simple beliefs:
For every princess there's a prince.
The king has ultimate power.
Stepmothers should never be trusted.
And bad things come to those who break with Tradition….
But when Rosa is pursued by a murderous huntsman and then captured by dwarves, her beliefs go up in smoke. Determined to escape and save her kingdom from imminent invasion, she agrees to become the guinea pig in one of her stepmother's risky incantations—thus falling into a deep, deep sleep. When awakened by a touchy-feely stranger, Rosa must choose between Tradition and her future…between a host of eligible princes and a handsome, fair-haired outsider. And learn the difference between being a princess and ruling as a queen.
The moral of the story? Sometimes a princess has to create her own happy endings….

This was a great anthology with many different takes on Valdemar from many good authors. To a certain extent, I think that the reader would enjoy this anthology more if they had read the one preceding this because there are many familiar faces in this anthology and so the reader who just steps into this would be missing a bit of backstory. I was very gratified to see resolution and closure in some relationshi
Gwenhwyfar : The White Spirit
The bestselling author of the Valdemar novels pens a classic tale about King Arthur’s legendary queen.
Gwenhwyfar moves in a world where gods walk among their pagan worshipers, where nebulous visions warn of future perils, and where there are two paths for a woman: the path of the Blessing or the rarer path of the Warrior. Gwenhwyfar chooses the latter, giving up the power that she is born into. Yet the daughter of a King is never truly free to follow her own calling. Acting as the “son” her father never had, when called upon to serve another purpose by the Ladies of the Well, she bows to circumstances to become Arthur’s queen—only to find herself facing temptation and treachery, intrigue and betrayal, but also love and redemption..

I should preface this review with the statement that I usually dislike Arthurian stories a great deal. After all, by this point it's been done ad nauseum, and all the various permutations of who is good versus bad seems to have been pretty much exhausted...
This rendition was brilliant. I especially liked the interpretation of Arthur having had three queens with the same name and the lack of a strong romanti

I enjoyed riding circuit with some of my favorite authors in this anthology, but sadly the overall impression seems to be lackluster and easily forgettable. There are some gems in the mix, but considering there were 14 stories in this anthology, they were so short as to easily be lost. Even the well-written stories didn't have nearly enough character development as I would have liked, not to mention the ones

This is an interesting glimpse into the beginning of the Herald's Collegium. This is definitely a pate-turner as Mags is an interesting and charismatic narrator. I did find how he managed to get information pumped into his head a rather cheap trick, it would have been much more realistic for him to have had a bit more difficulty in acquiring the knowledge. Although the beginning of the book seems rather a bit
