Virtue and Vice
Elinor St. Ives fears she’ll suffer the same fate as did her mother, who died in childbirth. She’s determined never ever to marry. Elinor’s Uncle Gus believes it’s his solemn duty to see her wed. As for her desire to teach poor children their letters, he schemes to thwart any such notion. When he unexpectedly relents, Elinor is ecstatic. But once in Axbridge, her euphoria rapidly fades. The poverty level is so daunting she’ll need to work harder than anticipated to make a success of her school.
Gideon Holcombe, by nature reclusive, considers himself a poor excuse as a clergyman. He wishes he could respond with more warmth to troubled members of his flock.
When Elinor and Gideon meet, both feel a powerful attraction that plagues them throughout their stormy relationship. Gradually they come to respect each other, then fall deeply in love. Yet both agree marriage is too risky.

Genre(s): Historical Romance, Regency
Phylis Warady assembles an ensemble of unforgettable characters in this traditional Regency. As each interesting personality is introduced they whined their way into your heart and become friends. I felt as if I became invested in their struggles and successes. With each new page I grew more and more attached to the main couple hoping that they could overcome their prejudices and find good fortune and happine
The Earl's Comeuppance
A Confirmed Bachelor —
For nigh forty years, the Earl of Pardo has managed to escape the parson's mousetrap. Nor does he have the least intention of being led meekly to the altar anytime soon — if ever!
A Wily Widow —
In Margaret Astell's opinion, the Earl of Pardo is arrogant, conceited and disturbingly attractive. By rights, he has no business meddling in the affairs of a respectable widow bent on seeing her eldest daughter properly wed.
The Plot Thickens —
To ensure his proud lineage, the Earl feels he must take steps to protect his dashing, romantically inclined heir from the fortune-hunting snares of Mrs. Astell's pretty daughter. But when the affair is resolved to his satisfaction, to his amazement, the suave Earl finds he's fallen in love.
Publisher Note: Previously published in 1991, now revised.

Genre(s): Historical Romance
The Earl's Comeuppance makes me think of DOVE BARS; they're good but I still want more. The plot of The Earl's Comeuppance is pretty standard as it deals with a girl being introduced to the ton. There are Historicals that have some really great bite, but at only 125 pages this one was very limited.
Maybe a little more chocolate would satisfy my hunger in the way of romance. More Kissing and intimate lov
