Former district attorney turned mystery writer Libby Leigh Bryon discovers firsthand that fact can be stranger than fiction when she becomes the lone witness to a double murder executed by none other than Eddie "The Mallet" Lennox.

The prosecution does everything in its power to keep its star witness alive, including rotating around-the-clock protection provided by three of New York's finest.
