Best Man

Alexander's a man with an uncommonly happy disposition. His luck always holds true, and he takes chances with cheerful abandon. When he sees a New Year's Eve wedding running amok and a hot best man in need of help before Bridezilla goes boom, it's second nature for him to step in to lend a hand with the last-minute disasters that plague every wedding.

Taking a chance on luck and love is what Alexander lives for. The way Alexander sees it, he's earning good karma, winning over the adorable best man -- and he might just already be falling in love. Page Count: 49

Jazz Bang Boom

T-minus sixty seconds. Really, it was bad manners to blow up a tea party, but some society dames were just asking for it. Jazz landed in the ornamental rose bushes outside his hostess's parlor window, gathered his heavy silk skirts around his knees, and ran like hell.

Jazz loves pretty things and things that go BOOM. Riot, aka "Tyger", is a man on a mission, searching for the bits and pieces that'll repair his damaged, bioconstructed DNA. It only makes sense for the happily mismatched lovers to turn pirate and sneak, snatch or con what they need.

One problem: occasionally Jazz gets a little too fond of explosives, and Tyger gets a tad too focused on his quest. And when that happens... well. That's when the adventuresome airshipmen need to vent a little steam.

By Your Side

Seven years ago, during a sultry summer by a lake, Matthieu fell in love with a man fifteen years his junior. Intelligent, passionate and talented, Roman swore he wanted nothing more than to settle down with Matthieu for the rest of his life. Matthieu couldn't let that happen. The way he saw it, Roman had too much talent to waste with a small life and small dreams. He tried to do the right thing by severing all ties with the young man who commanded his passion, hoping that one day Roman would forgive and forget him.

That was never going to happen.

Roman has always known exactly who and what he wants -- who he loves. Now that he's found Matthieu again, Roman's willing to do anything it takes to prove it. He'll use his body, his music, and all his wiles to show the older man that their love is as real as their passion, and that they are meant to be together. Matthieu isn't easily convinced, but Roman isn't easily bested. He's never been good at taking "no" for an answer -- especially when he knows his partner well enough to be sure what he really wants to say is yes, yes, yes.

I was pretty excited when I saw the By Your Side by Willa Okati was up to be reviewed. As a fan of her books, I was stoked to see that this book was also a May/December themed romance, which is also one of my favorite themes in homoerotic romances as well. The story has a nice buildup, and the romance between the main characters is sweet and slowly develops into a loving relationship.   Roman and

Karma Chameleon

Genre: LGBT Shape-shifter Paranormal
Length: Novella

Arden doesn't usually take life that seriously. Why should he? He's got good if weird shape-shifting-inclined friends and he's grooving the mother of all extended hookups with Shavey, the only man Arden's ever met who gives as good as he gets and takes as vigorously as he receives -- and that's just in bed. He's living the sweet life, right?

Arden freely admits he's a pain in the ass. He's lewd, crude, shameless, and very nearly a nymphomaniac. Sure, he's got some good qualities, but that's never before been enough for someone he loved to stick around. Though he loves Shavey and wishes he could be the kind of long-term lover Shavey wants, Arden can't pretend to be something he's not.

The only place that leaves him is waiting for that other shoe to drop--drop-kick him out the door, that is. Though Shavey promises otherwise, Arden's heard that song and dance before. He's not buying it.

But that's all before Arden needs Shavey's help breaking a chameleonic shapeshifting curse. In return, there are a few things big bad bear Shavey would like to ask for -- and intends to prove to Arden -- in return.

Arden is not the type of person who takes life too seriously. After all, he is good friends with shapeshifters and he is in what is, for him, the longest relationship he has been in with Shavey, who is the only person he has met who gives Arden as good as he gets. While he does have some good qualities, those have not, to date, been enough for anyone to stay in Arden's life when compared to his lewdness, c

Because It's True

Believing in love and in luck is something Gavin swore he’d never do again -- until he meets Ford. After being left at the altar by his former fiancé, he's a firm disbeliever in good fortune and love. Though there’s an immediate attraction between himself and Ford, they're just too different to make a relationship work. The sex is explosive and despite himself Gavin even grows to like Ford’s quirky sense of humor and skewed view of life. Isn’t that good enough?

Not for Ford. A happy-go-lucky diviner of fortunes and omens, he’s sure from what he’s seen that Gavin is the love of his life and the man he’ll marry. He makes it his mission to overcome Gavin’s doubts and fears and teach him how to love again. Never giving up in his enthusiastic pursuit of the once-burned twice-shy secretary, he brings Gavin back to life and helps restore him to the man he used to be.

Ford makes Gavin want to believe in love again. But when Ford begins to lose his faith, it’s up to Gavin to save the magic they have between them and blaze the trail toward their happily ever after.

What is a once-bitten, twice-shy,  a little bit reserved secretary to do when he comes across an outgoing, fortune divining messenger? Maybe he will see if he is able to let go of past hurts and quietly enjoy life like he once did - with the help of the aforementioned messenger. I really enjoyed reading Gavin and Ford's story. What really made the story shine is how the characters interacted.  I th

Take two, and call me in the morning.

Eli and Zane. Colleagues at work and close friends, though on the surface it's an unexpected friendship between an odd couple. While Zane took the "high school to college to med school" track, medicine is Eli's second career and the best choice he ever made. He has work that he loves, an extended second family of colleagues and friends, and Zane.

So why does everyone make such a big deal about the pair of them?

Yes, they spend a lot of time together. It doesn't mean they're a real couple. When teased about it one too many times by their colleagues, Zane challenges Eli to set the record straight with a kiss to prove there's absolutely no chemistry between them.

Neither expected a spark to ignite between them. More than a spark. Desire. Passion.

Zane wants to try getting up close and personal again to see if it was a one-time fluke or something more. Eli thinks he's too old to jump the fence now, but he can't say no to Zane and he doesn't want to.

T.J.'s a man--okay, a shape-shifting tomcat--with a plan. He intends to ask his wizard lover MacGowan to officially move in with him and make this the best Festivus ever. Unfortunately--or not unfortunately, really--he keeps getting distracted by MacGowan's hot bod. You know how tomcats are. Purrrr.

That aside, T.J.'s got a minefield's worth of hurdles to jump before he can give MacGowan the keys to his apartment. That list includes meddling Nereids, pointedly absent friends, and a Psychokitty with a decided inclination to meddle in the affairs of cats and men. As the cherry on top, MacGowan's almost too busy stressing out over learning to be a "real" wizard to pay attention to T.J.

Still, this tomcat has learned that home is where the heart is, and he's going to hang onto his magical relationship with MacGowan with all four sets of claws, come what may. (And a lot may come, including them if they're lucky).

Wild Hunt

Genre: LGBT Paranormal
Length: Novel

Delaney, a Celtic fusion musician, is a man driven by passion. He's spent his life channeling that passion into creating and playing music, especially love songs and erotic ballads with a driving rock beat. He didn't believe any of it was real until he met Robbie, untamed and handsome, and found himself caught up in the whirlwind of a Wild Hunt.

Feral, enticing Robbie captures Delaney's heart, kindles his curiosity, burns him alive with passion, and draws him unwillingly into danger. The bindings and piercings that decorate Robbie's skin are meant to keep him from betraying the secret that could save both their lives and win their freedom from the Wild Hunt. But if the Master of the Hunt has his way, he'll keep the lovers--forever--as his prey.

But now that he's a part of it, Delaney's determined to be the hero. He's keeping his man and he'll do what it takes to save him. Even if it means sacrificing everything else.

Wild Hunt is a story of the ties that bind - physical and emotional. It is also a story of passion, love, violence, and what people are willing to do to and for each other. I found the tale to be compelling and forceful. Aside from the characterization as shown through the vividness that is the Hunt Master, the quiet, steely strength that is Delaney, the hidden and, well, feral strength of Robbie, and the n

The Brotherhood 12

Harrison prides himself on only believing in what he can prove -- with solid, scientific fact. He's spent much of his career as an academic professor debunking urban myths, legends and mythology, so he's used to people writing angry letters to him. When he receives a letter from someone claiming to be a mage and offering to prove it to him, he's surprised, amused, but also intrigued. He's game, he decides, but there's a catch: Harrison will have to pay a visit to Amour Magique and make his way past otherworldly guards to meet Martin in his lair.

Harrison's only after the subject of another publishable article. But Martin surprises him. Not only is he handsome as the very devil, he also seems to take a reciprocal interest in Harrison.

It's a shame that Harrison thinks Martin is a fraud, and Martin thinks that Harrison is a blot on the paranormal community -- especially when you consider that they can barely keep their hands off each other. And the sex is positively incendiary.

The question isn't magic but love, and the choice is set before them: believe it or not?
