A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Aemelia

Margaret Pierce’s whole world was collapsing around her. After the end of a delightful flirtation with Edward Hollings, things just go from bad to worse. First the lost of her love, now the loss of her father, who is to spend the next five years in prison for embezzlement. The letter from her best friend’s husband, inviting her to visit them in England could not have come at a better time.

Edward tried to deny the feelings he had for the delightful American, Maggie Pierce. But he though he’d not see her again so soon. He can’t deny his feelings any longer, but can he convince Maggie to marry him?

---

Jane Goodger writes an emotionally intricate plot, creating fascinatingly complex characters and heart-wrenching scenes that make it difficult not to cry. Maggie is a strong character on the brink of a breakdown. She shows a falsely carefree attitude, while she is slowly crumbling inside. Edward fights his attraction to Maggie until it’s almost too late.

Both are guilty of assuming they know what the other wants, and bother are wide off the mark. They were too scared to communicate with each other, causing more conflict.

I really enjoyed watching Edward and Maggie finally admit their love, I’m just sorry they had to go through so much to finally reach their HEA. I first followed their flirtation in MARRY CHRISTMAS, the story of Maggie and Edwards’ best friends, Elizabeth and Rand. While it took them a while to work through their issues, Maggie especially had a hard time coming to terms with her situation.

I’m eagerly awaiting Amelia’s story in 2010. I can’t wait to see what the American West has in store for her, though I’m sure it won’t be an easy trip, it will surly be eventful!

In her latest romance, Jane Goodger weaves an unforgettable tale of a woman who thinks she's lost everything--until a little Christmas magic reunites her with the one man she could never forget. . .

Dashing, debonair, and completely irresistible, Edward Hollings has all of Newport buzzing--and to Maggie Pierce's surprise, she alone has caught his eye. But when the handsome earl returns to England without proposing, a devastated Maggie knows she must forget him. Life only gets worse for Maggie, as all her dreams of happiness and love come crashing down around her. When Maggie receives an invitation to go to England for the Christmas birth of her dear friend's baby, she accepts--vowing to keep her devastating lies and shameful secrets from the one man she has ever loved.

Edward vowed he'd never marry, but he came dangerously close with Maggie. She's beautiful, witty, indescribably desirable--and Edward can't forget her. When Maggie visits mutual friends for Christmas, Edward can't stay away. In fact, he finds himself more attracted to her than ever--a desire fueled even more by Maggie's repeated snubs. With the love he never thought he'd find slipping away, Edward is determined to make Maggie his own, no matter what the cost. . .
