A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Areil White
J-Pop Love Song is a romance book featuring an older black woman (Charlene) and a young Japanese man (Kane). Kane is a star who wants to be on Charlene's new project. The only problem is she does not want him to play the part of Blu - a tortured soul she wrote about in her book that is now going to the big screen. She thinks Kane's innocent image will ruin the movie. His youth, she thinks proves he is not sophisticated enough to even think about playing Blu. Kane, however, is on a mission to prove that he is the one to play Blu and perhaps be the man of Charlene's dreams. This story is very touching as Kane has many personal issues to overcome and Charlene must deal with her own hang ups. It is also very humorous at moments. A great read, to say the least.
