This is the third book in a loosely related series. Kathleen Dante writes a smoking story. From the reader’s perspective, Cyn’s fears seemed foolish in the face of a man like Rio loving you, but to her they had been proven true again and again. The suave and sometimes bumbling ways Rio tries to win his lady were a delight to read. While their relationship started as just sex and games, both knew it was changing into more.
It’s not often you find a book where the man knows he loves the heroine and goes in guns blazing, and it added a new dimension for me for the woman to be the one holding back. Their roles reversed in more ways than one, it made for an engaging read. My only complaint about this book would be the excessive use of obscure words. While I have a respectable vocabulary, there were a few words in this book that I had to stop and look up. While you could get the gist of what the author was trying to say, I found it somewhat distracting. For someone not so literal as myself, it might not be a problem.
All in all, a steamy read with two interesting storylines going. I especially enjoy the every day use of magic in the world Kathleen Dante has created, as well as little visits to the happy couples in the preceding two books, Entangled and Enticed.
