Jeb and Andy were lovers, and for Jeb, Andy was the one. But Andy didn’t want to stay in small town America, and Jeb acted like he’d leave so as not to lose Andy. But, Andy and his sister disappeared one night without a word, and Jeb was left with a broken heart and broken trust. Then Andy and his sister reappear, and though Jeb vows not to love Andy again, did he ever really stop?
Andy loved Jeb with all his heart, but when it came to protecting his sister from their obsessive, abusive stepfather he had no choice but to grab her and run into the night. Now, with a dark secret hanging over their heads, Andy and Sara are back and trying to figure out what to do. Jeb still sets his soul on fire, and he’s powerless to resist his demands.
But this time the ball is in Jeb’s court. He has to decide what he can do for Sara and Andy and still be faithful to his badge.
With a play on names (Jeb’s last name is Lawless and Sara and Andy’s is Payne) the author introduces a disturbing storyline of what can go wrong in a blended family and how far the members will go to be free. Sara is broken, but strong. She’s helpless but not hopeless. And Andy is a brother anyone would be thankful to have. Jeb comes on as a heartless bastard in the beginning, but he is really just protecting himself. With Andy’s selfless surrender, he once again finds his trust and love and goes to amazing lengths to protect both Andy and Sara. With a nice little side romance for Sara and a happy ending for all, this was a sexy game of cat and mouse which shows true love is stronger than fear.
