A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Christy Carlyle
Eulogy's Secret is a sweet and satisfying historical romance, with just enough mystery and suspense thrown in to keep you eagerly turning pages until the wee hours. Author Grace Elliot created a romance between Eulogy Foster and Jack Huntley that has all the elements to make it memorable and compelling. Though initially based on fierce physical attraction, it was a pleasure to watch it blossom into caring, admiration and passion. Elliot writes interesting and complex characters which makes it easy to care about their goals. At moments, it almost seemed like Eulogy was too perfect. While the hero, Jack Huntley, had flaws and fears and was often wrong-headed in his judgments, Eulogy always seemed to do what was right, think what was right, and act in a good and selfless manner. It made her an admirable heroine, but one who was, at moments, difficult to relate to. On the other hand, her innocence and purity, served as an excellent counterpoint to Jack's fears and Lord Lucien Devlin's menacing schemes. Though the story contained aspects of mystery and danger, it is the sweetness and well-written development of the romance that makes Eulogy's Secret such an enjoyable read. While Eulogy may seem, at moments, too good, she is also a heroine that certainly deserves her happy ending and Jack is a hero worth loving through his fears and past hurts. I look forward to other stories in the Huntley Trilogy.
