A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Connie

Ancient Ties is a good, solid read with a sturdy storyline following relatable characters. Janney Forrester is a twenty-first century divorcee who tumbles through time and meets Roman soldier Marek Benin Verus, a man with secrets and scars hidden beneath his hardened soul. Their character development does not take a backseat to their simmering sexual tension, making both Janney and Marek appear very genuine and approachable. Rounding out the story is the sub-plot struggle between Venus and Mars and their control over Marek's fate-a light, magical element that gives Ancient Ties a very charming quality befitting its time in early Rome. The novel is on the long side, enjoying a delicate pace between Janney's efforts to understand her new world and Marek's grasp of opening his heart to another woman.

A small point of contention is Janney's attitude towards returning home; she demands to go home whenever she suffers some sort of obstacle, a trait that weakens her character and makes her appear to be at the mercy of her emotions. But Marek's patience and his ability to remain flawed yet masculine more than compensates for Janney's whimsical flights of annoyance. As a couple, their journey is a wonderful (and at times, heart wrenching) read-set against a gorgeous historical backdrop, Quinn has created a world in which readers can easily invest their imagination and time.

Book Blurb for Ancient Ties

Genre: Time Travel Erotica

Length: Novel Plus

Betrayed by her cheating ex, heartbroken Janney Forrester needs a vacation. She gets one -- and much more -- when she lands almost 2,000 years in the past. Crossing over a crumbling stone threshold, she's greeted by the villa's perfect historical detail and the most gorgeous, masculine man she's ever seen, her every sexual fantasy personified. Confusion vies with attraction for control of her emotions, and Janney must reexamine everything she's ever thought about herself.

Roman soldier Marek Benin Verus considers the woman suddenly appearing before him as a gift from the gods. Zeus knows he needs one! Battle fatigued and emotionally scarred after fifteen years in the army, he's on a leave of absence, and he has all the time in the world to devote to seducing this beautiful woman into his bed. He doesn't plan on the powerful and dangerous emotions she inspires in him.

Marek's hard, muscular body is too luscious to resist. Janney decides to risk the comfort of her safe life and carpe diem - seize the day. Marek seizes her body and takes her to the edge -- and over -- to an ecstasy she never knew existed. Can a new world for her, timeless desire, and a loving exploration of each other's bodies forge a passion that survives centuries of separation?
