A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Dee
Anais and Lindsay are, after being best friends all their lives, having a hard time making the transition to lovers. In the back of their heads each has their own hang up: Anais is 28 past the traditional marrying age which her mother rages on her at every opportunity; Lindsay has an alcoholic father he’s embarrassed about, but still has become dependent on the lure of his opium.
Anais’ and Lindsay’s natural loving relationship is quick to progress until a friend intervenes.
The strength of the story is in its characters, Anais and Lindsay’s friends, family and even employees. Each one is afforded his/her history and become an integral part of the story. The dialogue IS the story as talking to others expresses one’s emotions of the events furthering the story along with the characters interactions, not by just telling the reader what’s up.
Lindsay and Anais both are miserable without the other, their love never dies, so when Lindsay is blessed by Anais ill fortune he ends up housing her and her family in his home. There’s a chance they may get together again until Anais turns him away in part to secure her secret.
Addicted could easily be set in the modern day world with few alterations. The transition from friends to lovers happens all time, addictions are prevalent, and single parent pregnancies happen all the time. In this story Charlotte Featherstone does her best to resolve such issues, and she does a fine job of it too.
Ms Featherstone, will you be writing about any of the other characters in future novels? I hope so; the characters you’ve built in Addicted have very likeable, very human personalities. I enjoyed the plot with its diversity and your ability to guide us through towards its conclusion. Your novel was an easy and an especially enjoyable read. Thank You

Book Blurb for Addicted
He Is Ruled By Twin Cravings:
Oblivion and Passion.
Friends since childhood, Anais Darnby and Lindsay Markham have long harbored a secret passion for one another. When they finally confess their love, their future together seems assured, sealed with their searing embrace.
But when a debauched Lindsay is seduced by a scheming socialite, a devastated Anais seeks refuge in another man's bed while Lindsay retreats to the exotic East. There, he is seduced again-this time by the alluring red smoke and sinister beauty of opium.
Back home, Lindsay's addiction is fed by the vogue for all things Oriental-especially its sensual pleasures-in fashionable London society. In his lucid moments, Lindsay still lusts after Anais, who can neither allow him near nor forget his smoldering touch. Tortured by two obsessions-opium and Anais-Lindsay must ultimately decide which is the one he truly cannot live without.
