A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Deidre

Rain Tairen Soul is the King of the Fey. A thousand years ago, the love of his life was brutally murdered on the battlefield and he scorched half of the world in his rage. Now, a thousand years later he is pulled from the Fading Lands to find the person who will save his dying people. When he finds the one calling out to him he is shocked to learn that she is his Truemate. No other Tairen Soul has ever claimed a Truemate in the past and as such Rain must deal with the beast within while trying to court his mate.

Ellie is the oldest daughter of a woodcarver. She has been betrothed to a foul man, who has forced the betrothal upon her and her family so he can use her magic for his own purposes. Ellie is terrified of the magic within her and the Shadowman who haunts her dreams. Ellie has been fascinated by the fey all of her life and is drawn to Rain. Rain must find a way to legally break the previous engagement between Den and Ellie. Also, he is trying to prove that the evil wizards, the Eld, are returning to strength and are a danger to the world.

Lord of the Fading Lands is the first in a series by the new author C.L. Wilson. The book has mesmerizing characters and wonderful lands to visit. This book was an absolute delight to read and I look forward to the continuation of Rain and Ellie's story in Lady of Light and Shadows, due out October 30th, 2007. This book will definitely be joining my "keep pile" and I look forward to reading more from this writer.
