While Jessica and her daughter are enjoying a hike together on Keeley’s birthday, they happen to come across something that neither one could believe they are looking at. Deep in the woods, they stumble upon a dragon. Being a biologist, she tries to rationalize that maybe this isn’t what she and Keeley really think it is. But, deep down, she is thrilled to be considered a “Chosen” one to discover a creature as beautiful as this.
While Jessica and Keeley convince the creature to seek shelter with them, they begin a bonding experience between the three of them that no one can break. They even decide to call him Simon.
Since Colonel Drew McGregor is a local to the area, the army decides to have him lead the quest for this strange animal. Once everyone starts learning what has been discovered, a flurry of reports begins to fly in. As he leads the search, he never realizes that this assignment is going to change his life forever.
While on his search for this dragon, what else does Drew discover during his search mission? What happens to poor Simon and why is he even in the woods by himself? Is the army going to take care and protect him or do they have something else sinister in mind for this poor creature?
I am a big fan of dragon stories so I really wanted to review this one. It was an enjoyable read for me and I couldn’t help but fall in love with Simon. After reading this, I truly hoped that we had such amazing creatures, such as dragons, alive and living among us today. The author held my attention throughout the story and I was hoping that the army was going to protect Simon from harm instead of inflicting any upon him. If you are a dragon lover at heart, as I am, I think you will enjoy this endearing bonding story between humans and dragon.
