Lexi Harper returned to her hometown of Fodders Creek, West Virginia after graduating from college to attend the Malloy's annual cookout. She couldn't wait to go back to run into her all time crush, Brad Malloy, who was Sammy's older brother. Sammy was her childhood partner-in-crime and best friend. She loved being around Sammy because that meant she always got to see Brad. Maybe now after all these years later, Brad will take notice of her and make her dreams come true. Arriving at the cookout the place was packed. She came across many familiar faces among the crowd of people. It was a few years since she had last attended one of their fabulous cookouts and she was glad that she attended this one this year. This time, all grown up since the Malloy's last saw her, she was hoping to finally get a chance to speak with Brad and see if there was any chemistry between them. Little did she know just how things were going to turn out for her. What happened to Lexi at the cookout? Did she see Brad and get the chance to talk to him like she had hoped she would? How did he treat her when he saw her? What did Sammy think about Lexi after not seeing her for four years? I really enjoyed this short story and found myself rooting for Lexi from the very beginning. I was hoping things turned out how she had hoped they would. The characters were very appealing and I couldn't read the story fast enough to see the final outcome for Lexi. I would definitely recommend this story to everyone.
