Anne Gracie does it again: The Accidental Wedding is funny, charming, and completely endearing.
Althought some might think the premise a bit too old, it's a mark of Gracie's skill that she captured my interest from the very first page and kept it until the very end. I fell in love with Maddy from the start. She's smart, courageous, and I couldn't help but admire her ability and willingness to love even in spite of everything around her. In comparison, even dashing and debonair Nash seems to pale. Even so, to see how their love blossomed was a joy.The children and how Nash and Maddy interacted with them was the highlight of the book. I enjoyed how they were definitely in front and center stage, never relegated to the side as mere props.
There are some authors I pick up when I just want to some comfort at the end of a long day. Anne Gracie is one of them. Although the stories have their share of excitement, ultimately it's the love between the characters and the remarkably well-drawn relationships that pull me in and keep me in the story. Not only between Nash, Maddy and her family even. Lady Gosford, Rafe, Luke, Ethan, and all the gang are definitely all there -- which adds to the story that they didn't just disappear off-stage after their turn.
I can't wait for the next book. Perhaps it will finally be Marcus' turn to be oh-so-delicately leashed?
