A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Lilyraines

Blake Hughes is a paramedic with the LAFD and quite happily living in the closet. Hunter Rassmussen transferred to LA from San Diego, wants to leave his past behind, and is not willing to be 'out' in his new workplace.

After they both wind up being assigned to the same shift, Blake and Hunter become friends - not only winding up being partners going out on calls, but spending their off time together too, enjoying each other's company.  Something changes and non-job related sparks fly.

When doing a job on which men rely on the other men (and women) they work with, when two stay outside to serve as rescue when two go into a burning building, is it possible for these two men to build a relationship that might go against unofficial department policy?  Could two LAPD officers be the ones to show these two firefighters the way through their own example? Or will someone from Hunter's past be able to destroy them?

Blake and Hunter were great characters within the storyline - and so were their co-workers, even the 'baddie'. Two In Two Out is a wonderful read about the ins and, well, outs about making your way within a working environment that may not be friendly - especially when trust issues are involved.  It is the story of how the work environment may also be friendlier than it first appears and all because of the people involved and how they differed from a previous place.  It is about friendship, love, and trust and how everything weaves together harmoniously - or is discordant due to a bad apple that may appear.

Book Two of Hauser's best-selling Heroes series!

Blake Hughes was comfortable being in the closet, especially at work while surrounded by macho firemen. A paramedic, still single at thirty, Blake kept his private life just that, private.

Hunter Rasmussen transferred to LAFD from San Diego. Twenty-six, powerful and fit, the handsome blue-eyed brunette just wanted to leave the past behind. No one had to know what he went through down south. And he didn't need history to repeat itself. Being ‘out’ was not a good career move for all jobs, and particularly not with the fire service.

When Hunter and Blake were assigned to the same shift pattern, they quickly became best friends. Partnered up on calls, hanging out together on days off, Hunter enjoyed Blake’s company and Blake his. Until something, or someone, from Hunter’s ugly past caused him problems.

In the fire department, men rely on each other for their lives. Two go into a burning building, and two stay out to serve as their rescue team in case of emergency. Blake and Hunter were two men deeply in the closet. And only with devotion and love would their secret lives come ‘out’. And Hunter and Blake find that courage in a very unusual place. Two devoted LAPD cops help show them the way.

Two in…two out…it helps when someone is there to throw you a lifeline.
