A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Melinda

Anna Sorenson is living a life of hell. She just buried her husband and since then has been having nightmares. These are not the usual nightmares but the ones that haunt her even in the daylight. She knows her dead husband kept lies from her and the only man who might know is the one man she doesn’t want to see again. Yet fate brings them together in a way that she hoped never to relive again. A year ago she made one big mistake and that was to fall in love with John Delaney. He was her husband’s best friend and the only man who made her feel alive in and out of bed. The thing is that the person who brought tragedy to everybody a year ago is back to end things for good. The killer wants her dead this time and he is not stopping at just the notes. Anna has something that he wants, something that is inside her. She knows her time is running out but she wants to find out the truth about her dead husband. Can she trust John again with her heart?

John Delaney is an F.B.I. Agent and takes his work seriously. The thing is a year ago he lost his best friend and also lost his only true love. The bad part is that his true love was married to his best friend and he swore that he will keep his secrets hidden. He knows it is wrong to do this but if Anna knew the real truth about her husband it would kill her. John was the only real friend that she has ever had during her own marriage and he knows it was wrong to fall in love with her. Yet nobody told his heart to stop loving her. Knowing that the killer he thought he arrested is still out there and determined to kill Anna is breaking his heart. Now that he has a chance to be with Anna again he is determined to convince her that they belong together. Can he keep Anna safe or will it be the end for her?

Again Mary Eason outshines herself in this suspenseful book that rocks all the way to the end. Anna is a woman who has many secrets inside her and dreams that spook her. Dreams that are somehow telling a story themselves making you wonder what is happening in this book. Mary has a clever and evil mind that makes you wonder exactly who the killer is. The thing about this book is that the killer does make you wonder what he is going to do and how it involves these two lovebirds. Like I said this book is one filled with betrayal, suspense, romance and an evilness that will make you want more from Mary Eason. Great job.

Book Blurb for Root of All Evil

Burdened with guilt and sorrow, fearing for her life…her sanity, Anna Sorenson walked away from everything to gain redemption. A year earlier, Anna buried her husband Aaron. A week later, she lost the child she’d longed for. Anna’s only thought was to put the tragedy of the past behind her and find a way to survive in a post-Aaron world. But the evil she escaped is hunting her down.

Agent John Delaney buried more than just his partner that rainy day one year earlier. He’d shoved aside his feelings, ignored the wrong he and Aaron did in the name of justice, and hoped the past would stay dead. It didn’t. With Aaron’s death and the arrest of his killer, the Bureau considered the case solved. No one had a clue the wrong man confessed to the killings. Until the real killer returned to claim his glory—and his next victim, Anna.

Now he’s after the woman John still loves and he must choose between keeping his partner’s secrets and losing Anna again. This time forever.
