Bree Kirkland's grandmother passed away and left Bree her home. When Bree moves in she is sad about her grandmother but she is also excited. Bree is a history nut and this house has been in her family for generations. When she starts to work on restoring the house she finds a journal that belonged to her great-great-grandmother, Isabel. Bree also finds a map inside the journal. When they were building the house Isabel found a strange metal disk, thinking it is lucky she hang it over the fireplace where it has stayed since then. When Bree follows the map and it leads her to a vault she is excited. She realizes that the disk hanging in her house is a match for the lock on the vault. When she opens it she thinks she will find treasure but instead she finds a man. In 1860 Faelan Conner was sent to America to hunt down and put the demon Drvan in the time vault where he will stay locked up until Judgment Day. Instead he walks into an ambush and he is put into the box. Drvan plans to keep Faelan in the vault until his time is up and make him watch while he destroys the world. But the key is lost and Drvan has been searching for it. When Bree opens the time vault she sets Faelan free. Faelan doesn't know what to make of Bree; she is nothing like the women of his time. The more time they spend together the closer they become. Faelan knows in his mind that their relationship can go nowhere because he has to be mated to someone within the clan. But their hearts are telling them that love can conquer all. AWAKEN THE HIGHLAND WARRIOR is the debut novel in a new series by Ms. Clenney. This is one of the best books I have read in a while. All I can say is Oh My Gosh, I want more. You get a series full of action, good vs. evil scenarios and romance. Plus don't forget the hot, sexy, and kilted Highlanders. This author could very well become one of my favorites. I read this in one night. If I could have given it a higher rating I would. Look for the next book; EMBRACE THE HIGHLAND WARRIOR coming in November 2011.
