While doing research for school, Haley Fitzpatrick finds a strange weapon. It was a combination weapon, but what was really strange was the inscription on it. If the inscription is what she thinks it is, then the man it belonged to died twenty years before the weapon was made. This could mean that history is wrong. Alasdair MacColla breaks into Inkeraray Castle, which is little more than a tower house, in order to rescue his sister. Their enemy, the Campbell, is holding her. On the way out MacColla sees a strange woman. She is dressed strangely. Thinking she is a Campbell, he takes her with him. The more time they are together, the more strange things he finds out about her. When Haley finally tells MacColla that she is from the future, he believes her. Together they must find a way to end the fight with the Campbell, keep MacColla alive and stay together.
This is the third book from Ms. Wolff, and in my opinion, they just keep getting better and better. The historical details that she includes in the story make you feel like you are there. This story has the right amount of romance and adventure. This is a definite keeper. Keep up the great work Ms. Wolff. Can't wait for the next one.
