Well-developed characters and an engaging story line combine to make this another delightful journey in the series that began with “Tailiff’s Cure”.
Having been stolen from earth by the slaver Black Rose with a group of Lionese, Maryann now finds herself rescued but at the mercy of a symbiotic “wet-suit” that has decided she is the destined mate of the Manruvian Crown Prince. It’s not that Mikel isn’t everything a girl’s wet-dream could be but whatever happened to freedom of choice?
At the same time, Mikel is trying to be understanding and a gentleman but all he really wants to do is sweep Maryann into his bed and make her his for the rest of their lives. At the same time he is determined to aid the Lionese in any way possible in their effort to put the Black Rose permanently to rest.
But they have not heard the last from the Black Rose. Her determination to maintain her slaving operations puts everyone at risk when she decided to eliminate her foe’s greatest ally – the ruling family of Manruvia - by setting in motion the takeover of the planet.
