A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Shannschoice
Having never read a Julie Anne Long book, I wasn't sure if I was going to like this one when I first started it. But I soon discovered two of the most entertaining and well written characters that I've had the privilege of reading in a long time. Julian, Marquess Darden likes things orderly and to his precision. So when he meets school teacher Phoebe Vale his orderly existence is thrown into chaos. Jules isn't the only one thrown into a tailspin. Phoebe has devoured every morsel she could get on the Ice Lord from the London scandal sheets. But meeting him proves he is so much more than what the ton believes. So when she has the ability to spend a few days with him at a house party she takes it. Julie Anne Long has written two characters that entertain you with their fun and often snarky conversations as we witness both Jules and Phoebe discover the only person has seen their true self. As a reader, you find yourself hoping they can find a way to hoping they will find a way to get past what is expected of them and grab onto each other. I absolutely loved this story and thought it had the best first kiss that I've ever read. Who knew the palm of your hand was such an erogenous zone! An absolute must read.

Book Blurb for How the Marquess Was Won
The Scandal Sheets call him Lord Ice. Ruthless, cold, precise, Julian Spenser, Marquess Dryden, tolerates only the finest- in clothes, in horseflesh, in mistresses. And now he's found the perfect bride, the one whose dowry will restore his family's shattered legacy and bring him peace at last: the exquisite heiress Lisbeth Redmond. She's about to play with fire... But one unforgettable encounter with Lisbeth's paid companion, Phoebe Vale, and the Marquess is undone. This quiet girl with the wicked smile and a wit to match is the first person to see through the icy fa€ade to the fiery man beneath. But their irresistible attraction is a torment as sweet as it is dangerous, for surrendering to their desire could mean losing everything else they ever wanted.
