A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Shnoogiepoo
What a beautiful self-publishing debut by an amazingly talented author. Jessica Marlowe’s marketing agency has been assigned to make NASA popular again. And she’s come up with the perfect plan. A campaign she had no intention of putting her career-climb on hold to single handedly run. But now she’s here and there’s one little problem. NASA’s new Poster Boy, Deacon Stockard. He’s an irresistibly sexy six-feet-two-inches of boiling contempt. And he makes it clear he has no intention of playing nicely in the sand box. Deke has one focus in his life. Flying. From Navy Fighter Pilot to Space Shuttle Commander, he lives and breathes a dangerous lifestyle; one that he’s not willing to ask anyone to share with him. He knows full well that one day he’s not coming home. So no matter how sexy he finds Jessie, he has no intention of getting into anything serious. As if he had time for it in the first place. With a recent near fatal launch, and unanswered safety questions as to why it happened, Deke doesn’t have time for anything but his job. Especially now. NASA is in a race against time to get a launch ready. They have to rescue an injured cosmonaut aboard the International Space Station. If they fail, the cosmonaut dies. But if they go without uncovering and repairing the issues that nearly blew up the last oribter, an entire crew could die. Jessica’s now tenuous career drives her to be successful regardless of the cost. She knows someone is gunning for her General Manager’s job, and if she fails she’s professionally done. Deke’s passion to protect drives him to make sure that launch happens safely, even though he’s not scheduled to take the ride. The men and women who will be on that orbiter need to have the same confidence in its readiness that he will need when he’s scheduled to fly on the following mission. And right now that’s just not the case. And then suddenly he is the one about to command an upgraded emergency mission, because the cosmonaut has taken a turn for the worse and the previous shuttle commander has been scrubbed from flying. Now all those safety concerns have taken center stage for both Jessica and Deke. Jessie finally understands what is at stake, and it’s far more than her career. Deke knows it’s the worst possible time to become emotionally attached to someone; his sole focus needs to be in this mission. Deke has always been at peace with dying, but he’s not willing to cause someone he loves unbearable heartache when it happens. It takes Jessica to make him realize it’s living that he’s really terrified of, not dying. Yet he has a job to do, a mission to command, a sick man to rescue, and a shuttle and crew to bring home safely. And if he fails? If he fails Jessie will never know he has finally found Space In His Heart for love. Ms. St. Claire has paid an incredible tribute to one of the greatest eras in not only American, but human history as well. An era that began with Alan Shepherd and the amazing Project Mercury, and ended with – what this reviewer considers a tragic mistake – our government’s financial withdrawal from manned space exploration in 2011, nearly fifty years later. So set aside a good chunk of time, because you’re not going to want to put this one down; grab a few Kleenex, ‘cause you’ll probably need them; and curl up with a wonderful novel by one of America’s best storytellers. Read the prologue carefully then set it aside and enjoy the book, because you won’t need it and it doesn't make sense until the very end. If you dwell on it, it will drive you nuts, and distract you from the book. Trust me, just set it aside, you’ll be glad you did.

Book Blurb for Space In His Heart
When PR superstar Jessica Marlowe is tasked with making America fall in love with space exploration, she knows exactly what to do: find some smokin' hot astronaut eye-candy and make him NASA's poster boy. When she meets Commander Deke Stockard, a Navy fighter pilot turned astronaut, the shiver down her spine tells her she's found her man. Consumed with the safety of the upcoming shuttle launch, Deke has zero interest in being part of a lame media blitz--but orders can't be ignored. He also can't ignore the way Jessica's sexy smile and single-minded determination throw his well-ordered life into a tailspin....and ignite an undeniable attraction. But when the next launch becomes a ticking time bomb that could spell the end for NASA, passion and courage won't be enough to reach the stars. Deke and Jessica will have to work together, and hope they both have space in their hearts...for love.
