This series is not your typical romance and you probably will not find it in the romance section. You will find Ms. Arthur's books in the same section as Laurel K. Hamilton. Ms. Arthur's books are Horror, Suspense, and romance all wrapped into one fast paced read. The characters are not monogamous and have several partners. The Riley Jenson Series is not your linear man meets woman and they marry. Each book is a continuation of Riley's life, and she has a very hard life! This series needs to be read in order. Riley is half-wolf and half-vampire. A very rare combination. -Riley has more wolf traits than vampire and her twin brother Rhoan has more vampire traits. Both brother and sister work for the Directorate of Other Races. The Directorate is like a paranormal CIA. Rhoan is a Guardian, while Riley is a desk worker. The Directorate has plans for Riley; they want her to be a guardian and wants to stay a desk worker. But things are changing This book is part of a series and if you like the first book you will be running to the store for the rest. The sixth book will be in stores in July 2007. The whole series is being published very close together. We are seeing about 1 book per month with a 3 month laps between book 4 and 5. Ms. Arthur's publisher, Dell publishing, has been extremely nice by not making us wait year's in-between books. This first book was extremely good, fast paced, and I rate it at a 4.5. Full Moon Rising left me wanting a lot more and I was excited to know that the series was being published very quickly. I hate to wait years for book continuations.
