Vanessa Gilfoy's story Masquerade of the Cursed King will take you to a new fantasy world. It's set in the world of New Pangaea and this is the first book in what will be a series. New Pangaea is a place of magic and mystery. There are humans, elves, wizards, dwarves and many other fantasy beings. There are also hybrids. In this first book, Masquerade of the Cursed King we meet Eleanor, a hybrid elf/human and King Frederick. Since Eleanor was a little girl she has loved Erick. For most of her life they were both friends, but things changed upon her becoming a woman. As a hybrid elf her body began to change and emit a very strong perfume that drew men and Erick wanted nothing to do with a woman who held powers that could control him. Having her out of the way was just so much easier, so she was sent away. Years later Eleanor has returned. She feels trapped in her position of titled lady and just wants to escape. She has tried several times and each time they catcher her before she can make it to safety. She has been living in a land where magic is scarce and the cold weather saps her strength. Her parents leave her at Erick's castle and he is non-too pleased, but since he is a bond brother with Eleanor's father he does it. Eleanor's scent continues to tempt him, but he is in a rock and a hard place. To have sex with Eleanor would dishonor him in his bond brothers' eyes, or would it? Eleanor's father has plans. He wants Eleanor and Erick to marry. Will Eleanor's love continue? Will Erick be able to withstand her come hither seduction and the smell she emits? Well there is just a tidbit of the story that Vanessa Gilfoy has in store for you. There are lots of other plots and intriguing encounters and I don't want to give too much away. I encourage you to pick this book up, as it will leave you satisfied and looking for more books set in New Pangaea. Ms. Gilfoy spun a tale of fantastic imagery, deep characters and a world that you will want to visit time and time again. The only thing I wish was different was that Erick would have come to his scenes a bit earlier, but when you have a stubborn and dark hero these things take time. Erick played his part exceptionally. He was dark, yes very dark and oh so sexy. The world of New Pangaea is an open canvas and I look forward to more stories of its inhabitance. I can't wait to see what characters Ms. Gilfoy spins next. There are two more books that I know will be set in New Pangaea - Guardian of the Onyx Empire 1/28/2008 and Quest into the Forbidden 1/23/2008.
