To Love a Hero by Mona Risk is a wonderful & adventurous story of love overseas.
Dr. Cecile Lornier is a female chemist and working her way to the top of her field. She has just secured a prestigious project in Belarus. She is to be the head of an American delegation that will help clean up the country because of the horrible disaster at Chernobyl. On her first trip to Belarus she takes in the not so up kept airport. While heading down the old and rickety escalator she trips and luckily a handsome man helps stabilize her. Soon after she find out that he is the famous Major General of Belarus and also a man who she will have to work closely with.
Major General Sergei Fedorin is a man with a mission. He wants to clean up his country and is willing to give his life for the citizens of Belarus. His wife passed away from cancer caused by the after effects of Chernobyl. His wife's father is also a government official, but a corrupt and hate filled one. He doesn't like Sergei and is looking for a way to ruin his life and career. Hatred burns hot and furious in his heart and he sees Cecile as a means to harm Sergei.
Cecile and Sergei find that they have an instant attraction. Through meetings and dinners they soon find themselves dating, but keeping their relationship secret. The Belarus people would find their relationship wrong and a betrayal. Sergie and Cecile want to declare their love for each other, but first they must complete the clean-up and provide a safe environment for the people of Belarus.
To Love a Hero was a sweet and fun romance. The storyline had a great amount of twists and turns and played out well. The love between Cecil and Sergei was fraught with glitches and misunderstandings. When things went very wrong for Sergei Cecile stepped up and showed him how much she loved him. This was a very entertaining read.

The widowed Sergei has pledged to clean his country of the pollution left by the Chernobyl disaster. With a glass of vodka in his hand and the lovely Cecile nestled in his arms, Sergei has more on his mind now than nuclear pollution, and Cecile soon learns that chemicals are not the only things that generate heat.
The general doubts he can fulfill his mission if he surrenders his heart while Cecile fights his chauvinistic officers to perform her contract. Soon she will have to choose between betraying Sergei's trust or abandoning him to the evil plot of his hateful ex-father-in-law.
