The third book in the Shadow Falls trilogy opens with a missing teenager and the sixteen year old mystery of the missing baby first revealed in book one. Dr. Carrie Overton is the only person alive that knows that her son Sam is that missing baby. With the search for the child heating up, Shadow Falls is once again thrown into turmoil. Sam’s best friend is missing, and the town has several suspicious visitors.
In the midst of this turmoil, Carrie and Sam meet Gabriel Cain. Gabe has come to town looking for answers. A wanderer at heart with no place to call home, Carrie starts to wonder if he’ll ever want a home base. Both Carrie and Sam are drawn to Gabe immediately, and Gabe in return is drawn to them. However, before anything can be settled between them, the disappearances of area teens needs to be solved and Carrie’s secrets will need to be revealed.
In this third installment of the Shadow Falls series, Maggie Shayne has written a unique story that will keep readers guessing until the very end. The trilogy concludes with a superb mystery and fast-paced story. The romance between Gabe and Carrie fits well with their characters and is developed in a way that meshes just right with the ongoing mystery. Readers will savor romantic suspense as Gabe and Carrie race to find out who is behind the teenagers kidnappings before Carrie’s son is the next to be taken.
