Sandra Ashton is a witch in a world where humans, vampires, werewolves and other shape shifters co-exist. When she is leaving a nightclub and is nearly killed by a werewolf, she is saved by, Navarre, a sexy vampire. He makes sure she gets home safely, but does take a little nibble.
To her dismay, Sandra, a widower who still mourns the death of her husband, finds she is inexplicably drawn to the vamp. When he appears in her room, it seems the feeling is mutual. While a romance develops between the two, a brutal murder shocks the town's people.
As their relationship deepens, Sandra experiences a sexual awakening. Attracted to several vampires at once, she is practically insatiable and disgusted by her own behavior. To her surprise, Navarre understands who she is better than she does and doesn't shun her. Meanwhile, other murders take place and it becomes clear that Sandra may be a target for the power-hungry killer.
While under Navarre's protection, Sandra learns and begins to accept who she is as she carries on three sexual relationships simultaneously. But there is that pesky murderer lurking.
The beauty of good writing is that it can take a plot line that may seem overdone and turn it into a engaging story. Such is the case with Bitten. Ms. Kitts created a believable world and heroine that drew me in. Bitten was interesting on many levels. The three vampires had distinct personalities as did Sandra and her family members.
I felt writing the story in the first person and showing how and why Sandra was changing so drastically was the right choice. As for those of you who like the idea of having multiple men with one woman, have your fan ready. Phew!
