A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Vicci

The sweetest Deal" by Mary Campisi is a delightful romantic explosion of desire and passion that whisked a reader into a whirlwind courtship instigated by a deal.

I just loved this romantic interlude: filled with steamy and sensual exploits and the classic relationship miscommunications. "The Sweetest Deal" reminds me of the Harlequin Presents of old, with an added dose of eroticism and intense sexual energy.

C.C. Crowell has no time or inclinations for romantic entanglements, having been burned by a past relationship; she had devoted her life to her work. Living in isolation has left her father fearing she will never find happiness again. Enter "The Sweetest Deal". C.C. `s appeal to a reader is emphasized by her drive to succeed, her smart business savvy exterior and her penchant for acting wild and crazy when she doesn't over analyze her actions. I found C.C. to be a combination of a strong competent business woman and a spitfire when she would allow her true nature to surface. The constant switching between her dual personas really added an intoxicating acceleration to the novel.

While Max Jernigan maybe an alpha male driven by his own ambitions, he really is a sweet guy at heart; although he did agree to C.C. father's outrageous deal. After rationalizing his decision, Max really does enter the deal with every intention of fulfilling his obligation. That is until he realizes that the formidable Catherine is in fact the sultry vixen that stood him up the night before. I just love how he hedges throughout the beginning of his courtship with C.C. as he tries to figure out what to do about the deal.

The chemistry between the two flows from the pages from the moment the two meet. I just loved C.C. big cookie test; Max was so besotted and beguiled by her that he just kept eating. The entire scene was so hilarious. I was happy that max managed pass the test, just barely. Although Max was determined to see the deal done and Rhyder, Max's business partner, just kept coming up with some of the most bizarre analytical scenarios for conception, I did embrace Max's desire to develop a lasting relationship with C.C. even though she continuously tries to distance herself from him initially.

Roxie is one of the most fun loving characters in the novel; brainy and just a little off quilter by choice, her antics at the expense of Rhyder r are simply priceless. I will admit I thought Rhyder was all brains with little personality, but he really sets a sparks when he shows his true fire and male prowess; a display that left me wanting more.

"The sweetest Deal" is playful in its courtship and steamy in its interludes resulting in even paced, full body story that smoothly transitions from one scene to another and ultimately delivers a wonderful romantic interlude that I highly recommend.
