A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW | Reviewed by: Yadkny

This is no friends-to-lovers story like the previous in the series, but more of a strangers-to-agreed-temporary-lovers story that you won't want to miss.

They both lack in focus as far as their families are concerned. Drew is determined to prove to his father that he is worth his weight in taking over the company, but first must pass a test. Nicolette had tried taking the college route to her destiny - several times, but unclear of what that is, she's decided to just let life happen and decide for her. With the recent freedom she's gained, Nicolette now has the opportunity to live out some of her childhood and adulthood fantasies. Drew lends a helping hand and body, in getting those things on her list accomplished while quickly becoming charmed by her innocence and sensuality. The pair find in each other the adventure they lack in their other lives, but while one chooses to embrace it, the other finds it difficult to connect a personal life with a professional one. Drew and Nicolette find that the idea of commitment is new and somewhat scary, but that doesn't mean they both can't enjoy a few rolls In the Hay before deciding.

At double the length compared to the first two stories, In the Hay has become my favorite of the series thus far. The additional pages allowed for a greater connection to the characters and their romantic development while still being a novella. I was just a tad disappointed in not learning more about Drew and Nicolette's upbringing. I am curious as to why Nicolette's parents sheltered her so much growing up and what led to Drew's father being so hesitant in letting him take over the company aside from his seeming lack of focus. However, even with that added depth lacking, I still found the storyline and the characters engaging and genuine.

Nicolette is a quirkily loveable character with so much innocence her adventure with Drew takes on a whole new meaning. Her research into certain subject matter enhances her boldness in both the bedroom and emotional aspects. I don't believe that I will ever look at pineapple the same way again! And underneath it all, Drew is a patient and loving character. While he might pull back at times, the majority of his thoughts, words, and actions to Nicolette open up a sensitive and attentive side of Drew that I really enjoyed. Sexy is a man that listens.

A nice pacing with those surprising laugh out loud character dynamics that Ms. Ford is quickly becoming known for and this is story reads swiftly. The addition of a few updates to Riley and Shellie was wonderful to read as well. I especially like how the leads from all three stories in the Uninhibited in Apple Trail, Arkansas series are tying into each other and the town. I suspect this will continue in the next installment.

If you haven't read the works of this fantastic author, now is great time to do so since the fourth in the series has recently released.
