Lexie Douglas comes from Philip Island, which is a small island off the mainland of Australia. She has returned, for her fathers 70th birthday, after several years overseas after an accident of a friend left being on the island uncomfortable for her.
During her stay she is still at odds with her father and arguing with her mother. She has taken another promoting job with the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, through a London agency. Through this she meets Glen Smallwood who is from mainland Australia himself but not to far away from Philip Island.
Glen is a team manager for Signor Bagnelli and is riding a motorcycle called the Widow-Maker. They call it that because the suspension is unstable. It killed the pit boss, Angela’s husband, and the other riders for Bagnelli fear it. The Widow-Maker seems to only have one master and it is Glenn.
The first night Lexie actually meets Glenn she is dressed like the rest of the promoters at the party with blonde wigs on. When she sees him out the next time it is when she is surfing taking a bit of relaxing time to herself before she has to be back at work. They start talking and she realizes it is him by the voice and they make a date.
Lexie & Glenn must work with each other in the days leading up to the race. Their relationship grows close but Lexie can’t tell exactly what is in Glenn’s heart. What she does know is that he is going to ride the Widow-Maker and there is not anything she can do about it, even if it is a life-threatening situation.
Amy Gallow is a bright and talented author and her characters are full of life. She brings you into the story and holds your attention for each and every page. She reminds us that love is give and take, but also, that it takes two to tango. She has put more than one lesson to learn about Love in The Widow-Maker. I see a lot more great books coming from her and will be quite excited to read them.
