Poor Amelia Pritchard’s life is in complete shambles. The house she lives in needs repairs beyond belief, she can’t get through a bad case of writer’s block and she’s facing a divorce with her husband. Ironically though, she realizes that she still has feelings for her husband, but doesn’t really know if she should tell him or if she should even act upon them.
If that’s not bad enough, now she comes face to face with a ghost who needs Amelia’s assistance. The ghost begs Amelia for help because she finally wants eternal rest after all these years. Even though Amelia has enough on her plate already, she decides to help the ghost so she could finally rest in peace.
While helping the ghost by trying to grant her wish, does Amelia find what it is she’s looking for so the ghost can cross over? Is Amelia finally able to find all the answers she’s so desperately searching for? Does she ultimately get everything her heart desires or is she forever plagued by sadness and misfortune? Does her and her husband work things out together or proceed with the divorce?
I enjoyed this Halloween themed paranormal story and right from the start my heart went out to Amelia. Her life was a mess no matter how she tried correcting things. Then when the ghost appeared to her seeking her assistance, I wondered how Amelia was going to be able to deal with yet another setback demanding her immediate attention. I found myself hoping that she would find the light at the end of the tunnel and that she’d be able to pull herself out of the mess she was in while finding the answers the ghost needed too. I’m new to Ms. Sookoo’s writing, but I’d be interested in reading more from her in the future. This is definitely one you should look into if you love paranormal stories.
