In the town of Nevermore, Texas, magic and wizards are a normal part of everyday life. For Sheriff Taylor Mooreland, his job is to protect the town against whatever magical threat may come their way. The last few days, Taylor has been having dreams of a beautiful woman and is shocked to find her one morning chained to an altar and about to be sacrificed to open a portal to Hell. He feels the need to protect this woman at all costs and that she is his destiny. Norie Whyte has lived a life of loneliness and pain when her family cast her away for not having any magical powers. She is the key to an age-old prophecy where the master of the underworld will be freed by spilling her blood and Taylor is the only person that can save her from her destiny.
This is the second book in the series of the “Wizards of Nevermore.” I have been a huge fan of Michele’s “Brokenheart” series and I was super excited to read this. Michele Bardsley has created such an intricate world of magic and wizards that is just phenomenal. The character building involved with this series kept me hooked all the way through the book. I liked how she is continuing the series through each of the books and this one ended on a cliffhanger that makes me want to get a hold of the next one right now. Taylor was a very strong hero that once he saw Norie, he knew with every once of his being that he had to protect this woman. Norie felt the same thing when she looked at Taylor and it was nice to see a connection that strong.
The other thing that I enjoyed about this book was the secondary characters. There were so many wonderful characters involved in this town and I loved learning about each and every one of them. There was a secondary mystery involving suicides of certain town folks that wasn’t resolved in this novel and I can’t wait to see where Michele goes with this storyline. This is a great series and an alternate look at the world of magic with some humorous one-liners. Very enjoyable.
Tormented by nightmares of a woman's death, Sheriff Taylor Mooreland is shocked to find the woman from his visions chained to an altar in the woods. He barely knows her, but something compels Taylor to protect the mysterious Lenore Whyte no matter what. Even if it means dealing with magic.
And when an investigation into a series of suicides leads Taylor deep into the town's past, he discovers that the key to saving Lenore and the town of Nevermore may have a surprising connection...
