But something strange is going on and Alecia is seeing the ghost of Braden. Alecia begins to have feelings for Riley, Braden's best friend. Why is Braden showing up now that he has passed and why to Alecia? There's a reason, but what is it? Alecia must face Braden's death and go on. She must learn to live and love again. But how?
Paul Lonardo will have your emotions all over the place. Loss is hard, no matter who it hits. It doesn’t matter if it happens to the young or old. But young love is tender and very vulnerable.
This is a story of young people dealing with adult issues. The author brings raw emotions from the characters right into the reader's heart. As you read the story you feel the love and the loss that especially Alecia felt. It wasn't puppy love or a crush, but they felt love. I do think the author devoted quite a bit of the book to Alecia grieving and going on. But people differ in how they deal with grief. Some can go on right away. But with others, it takes a long, long time. Alecia was young and this was her love. So I understand in a way why the author spent a good amount of time on it. The young sometimes get over things much quicker than older people. You can look at it both ways.
This book is relatable to many and the characters were true to life. Have you ever thought that when you've lost someone you love, that they are there with you in times of struggle? Braden was with Alecia urging her on to continue living and loving. So the author gives the reader a relatable story with characters you feel you knew. You're also given the possibility of spirits of the passed watching over you, leading you in the right direction.
Overall, this story was done very well.
