Suddenly and sadly Laney's fiancé has just died. She now is so depressed that she rarely leaves her home. She gets food sent to her door and she has no problems just working at home. After a while surprisingly her food orders start to get messed up. She soon meets an attractive man named Bojan who barely speaks English, which is complicated. He ends up having trouble getting through what he is saying and starts to mess things up on accident. To make matters worse Lanely thinks she is being watched from afar.
When she finally gets brave enough and happy enough to start leaving her house more problems continue to rise up. Will Bojan be able to protect her? Will they finally be happy and in love? And will Laney be able to get pass her depression?
I thought Danger at the Door was a very good story. I enjoyed how the author showed how even in depression the heroine was able to be strong and find happiness. It wasn’t easy…but she persevered. The relationship between Laney and Bojan was written with just the right amount of actions to make it very real. The suspense in the story also gave it that extra element that made it all work.
A recommended read
This book is heavier on the romance than the suspense and it's also inspirational, but steamier than most (warm rating vs. sweet)
This is a Christian-themed inspirational book.
Upon her fiancé's death, Laney became a recluse who only left her home for emergencies. She managed to survive - barely - on food delivery service and her work-at-home job. When she tries to move on from her grief, the commemorative meal she orders is ruined. However, it leads to an unlikely friendship with an attractive man, Bojan, who speaks little English.
As he befriends Laney he continually says the wrong things, but he doesn't give up trying to win her trust. Meanwhile, she has this strange feeling of being watched and wonders if she's losing her mind.
Complicating things further, every time she leaves her house something bad happens, confirming that she is safer at home. Can Bojan convince Laney she'll be safe with him, or will his presence put her in further danger? Will he be able to protect the woman he loves before it's too late?
