Emmerson is an alluringly complex heroine; a witch who embraces her magical abilities, but has problems with commitment. For a year, she has been using her handsome neighbor for sex, but won’t give in to his wish for something more. Drake, the neighbor, is an immortal warrior, and he and his warrior brethren are more than the usual team of warrior hunks which feature in so many paranormal romances. They are well rounded characters that are realistically flawed, but heroic and fascinating.
Even though he is immortal, Drake wears his heart on his sleeve. He loves Emmerson, though her continual refusal to allow him to even mention, that there is more going on between them than great sex is frustrating.
I loved the way that Drake was so open about his feelings. This is an emotively written paranormal with real depth to the plot. Ms. Fox gives the reader, lesser known Greek goddesses, a Titan or two, warriors who are paired with the symbols of the zodiac, and some great world building. I was not ready for this book to end. To appease my book hunger, I shall be racing out to get the other books in the series.
Drake Campbell enjoys a hot affair with Emerson Carano but longs for more. To avoid getting hurt, Emerson keeps Drake at a distance. But in need of assistance, Emerson must put aside her fears and join forces with Drake, the only man who can help her.
