Jayne Fresina brings us an exciting story that has more twists than the zipper ride at a carnival. You get a regency romance mixed with tongue-n-cheek humor as two lifelong nemesis fall in love.
Cheeky Ellie Vyne's ingenious masquerade as the Count de Bonneville leads to a romantic pursuit from a most unlikely source. James Hartley, with his handsome looks and arrogant pride has forever seen Ellie as that outrageous Vyne woman. When he discovers a scandalous involvement with the crooked Count, James decides that Ellie is in need of discipline, the kind that only a husband can give. Little does he know that the notorious gamester is actually Ellie in disguise. As James is wooing his violet eyed temptress another more sinister Count shows his cards. Does he have an ulterior motive for following Ellie?
I was so impressed with Jayne Fresina's writing. Her outrageous characters and their dry wit made this story more enjoyable than your average regency historical. It was a hoot! James and Ellie's wild antics kept me in stitches throughout the entire story. So for all those readers who like a bit of humor with your romance.... this is the book for you!
I give FIVE Flying stars to "The Wicked Wedding of Miss Ellie Vyne ".
By night Ellie Vyne fleeces unsuspecting aristocrats as the dashing Count de Bonneville. By day she avoids her sisters' matchmaking attempts and dreams up inventive insults to hurl at her childhood nemesis, the arrogant, far-too-handsome-for-his-own-good, James Hartley.
James finally has a lead on the villainous, thieving Count, tracking him to a shady inn. He bursts in on none other than "that Vyne woman"...in a shocking state of dishabille. Convinced she is the Count's mistress, James decides it's best to keep your enemies close. Very close. In fact, seducing Ellie will be the perfect bait...
