Maddie Sawyer lives behind her pen name of Kathryn West and in doing so she has taken on a different persona when it comes to her fans. This has made her realize that she likes living a bit on the edge. Let’s face it, Maddie isn’t anything like Kathryn. Having her ten year high school reunion fast approaching, she’d like to go, but she doesn’t have a date. So she decides that she’ll haunt a few bars and scout out a man that seems interesting enough and hopefully he’ll accept her proposition.
After hopping from one bar to another, she realizes this isn’t going to be an easy task getting a handsome guy to agree to this. So she heads into one last place, a bar called Trixie’s, and her eyes lock onto a sexy guy playing pool dressed in biker leather. There’s something about him that makes her heart skip a beat and she’ll stop at nothing to convince him that she’ll pay to have him go with her to her class reunion.
Scott Brady is a bit surprised when Maddie tells him what she’d like him to do for her. He’s definitely not sure it’s worth the payout in the end. Once they start getting to know each other, he realizes that not only does Maddie want something from him, but also he wants a huge favor from her in return.
The question remains can they both help each other out while keeping things platonic? What will happen if they start liking each other along the way? Could a real relationship work out for them?
Although this is Ms. James’ debut novel with Carina Press, I’ve had the pleasure of reading many of her stories during her writing career. She’s an author who is very creative with her storylines and she knows how to mold her characters to be people that you can relate to one way or another. At first, I thought Maddie was crazy for picking up a complete stranger out of the crowd and offering him money to pose as her boyfriend at her class reunion, but as I continued turning the pages, I realized that this may just work out in her favor after all. This is one author I love reading and I know once you’ve tried one of her stories, you’ll be just as hooked as I am. Keep up the great work, Ms. James!
