Sometimes a light, entertaining story is just what you need. "A Kiss for Miss Kingsley" is a perfect escape for afternoon or so. The story is subtle in its humor and conflict. Olivia and Allen are likable and I really felt their anger, anguish and love. The author lets their personalities shine as both characters talk to themselves and we begin to see the big picture. The continual references to “A Lady’s Guide to Proper Comportment” are part of the charm of this tale. I don't think it would be the same without them. This engaging story with its cast of fascinating characters is treat that I highly recommend. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.
The Story: Olivia Kingsley was falling in love when her eccentric father decided to move to the Caribbean. She felt her obligation was to her father even though she loved Allen Wimpleton. Allen couldn’t believe that Olivia would turn down his proposal and left her with angry and bitter words. Three years later, they meet again. It seems time and distance had changed little between them. But could they overcome the remaining hurt they both feel?
Can a beautiful spinster trust love again? Especially if the same man asks?
Olivia Kingsley didn’t expect to fall in love and receive a secret marriage proposal two weeks into her first Season. However, one dance with Allen Wimpleton and her fate is sealed. Or so she thinks until her eccentric and ailing father announces he’s moving the family to the Caribbean for a year. Distraught at her leaving, and unaware of her father’s ill health, Allen demands she choose—him or her father.
Heartbroken at Allen's callousness, but thankful he’s revealed his true nature before she married him, Olivia turns her back on their love. The year becomes three, enough time for her broken heart to heal, and after her father dies, Olivia returns to England. Coming face to face with an embittered Allen, she realizes she never purged him from her heart, and once again the flames of passion ignite. But is it too late for their love?
Caution: This humorous historical Regency romance contains a dashing, pessimistic rogue, a strong-minded heroine with a temperament as fiery as her red hair, an audacious aunt who says precisely what she thinks, and an uppity villainness who gets her comeuppance at last.
Buy this 1st installment in the Waltz with a Rogue Historical Regency romances series for a rousing, emotional, and romantic adventure you can't put down.
