Note: This is the last part of a serialized story. Please start from the beginning and read in order. Also, for those who read Viola Grace's romances - this isn't one.
Yay! We're at the end and surprises abound. Ish. Some of the twists were anticipated and very welcomed. There's quite a bit going on in "Blend and Defend" and it ends on a strong note with hope for their future. I'm looking forward to seeing if Viola Grace will end up writing a romance series linked to this story because there's a lot to play around with.
That said, the "lots to play around with" is part of what this story struggles with - there's almost too much to digest and there's much going on that I wish had been explored in more depth. There's also less character development here than before, not in a bad way, just simply that the action is non-stop and there's no time for much introspection. It does very much read like a setup for a longer series as the ending feels like a comma rather than a period.
I enjoyed the Innate Wright books and I'm definitely looking forward to more.
The pilots of Bot City have been focused on securing the safety of their people, and incidentally the human city, for the last few days.
With one final battle to expunge the Tokkel before they can try and get a foothold on Hera, the bot pilots are ready to take up the customized weapons and use them to show the alien invasion who is in charge.
Their goal is clear. They have to repel the Tokkel and learn the actual history of the valley as not one version of the tale has rung entirely true. The Nine have their version, the elders have their version, the city has their version, and then there is the truth. It is past time for the truth to be heard. The pilots have earned it.
