Brenda Jackson absolutely fascinates with her new series. Vashti Alcindor is a strong heroine. I love that she isn’t perfect and that she has doubts, fears and flaws. I also appreciated her traumatic past. Not that it made me feel sorry for her as those events made her the woman she was now.
Sawyer Grisham is an extraordinary hero. His strong work ethic and belief in justice is admirable, but not as much as his love and devotion to his daughter. He is the true epitome of just how sexy a good man can be. The instant attraction between these two was absolutely engaging. I couldn’t wait to see what would come of it.
I wish I hadn’t started reading so late because I couldn’t finish it in one sitting and spent the day at work just waiting to get back between the pages. I enjoyed meeting so many residents of the town. I especially enjoyed the tension between her two high school friends.
Catalina Cove has become the premiere destination on my bucket list. It’s been so beautifully described. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it isn’t a real place. So I will just have to hope the author quickly releases subsequent adventures so I can keep visiting. Because, I definitely cannot wait to read the next adventure.
The Story: Vashti Alcindor never planned to return to her hometown but when she inherits her aunt’s resort she has no choice but to visit. Soon a series of events unfold that seem determined to keep her in Catalina Cove, including her attraction to the new town sheriff. Can she find answers from her past so she can move ahead with her future?
In her brand-new series, Brenda Jackson welcomes you to Catalina Cove, where even the biggest heartbreaks can be healed…
In the wake of a devastating teen pregnancy that left her childless and heartbroken, Vashti Alcindor left Catalina Cove, Louisiana, with no plans to return. Now, over a decade later, Vashti reluctantly finds herself back in her hometown after inheriting her aunt’s B and B. Her homecoming gets off to a rocky start when the new sheriff, Sawyer Grisham, pulls her over for speeding, and things go downhill from there.
The B and B, a place she’d always found refuge in when it seemed like the whole world was against her, has fallen into disrepair. When a surprising benefactor encourages Vashti to reopen the B and B, Vashti embraces a fresh start, and soon old hurts begin to fade as she makes new memories with the town—and its handsome sheriff…
But some pasts are too big to escape, and when a bombshell of a secret changes everything she thought was true, Vashti is left reeling. With Sawyer and his teenage daughter determined to see her through the storm, though, she’s learning family isn’t always a matter of blood—sometimes it’s a matter of heart.
